This is a Janssen y/b i bred last year out of a Blue Cock & Cheq Hen both parents were inbred to our base pigeons but not belonging to each other.

Sorry to here that it's a real gutter when you lose a real good dog i know from experience.

Nice looking bunch of y/b,s Jimmy

All depending on how long his ring was cut off you could try holding it under the cold tap and then hot tap few times a day.Same as you would do to bring a swelling down yourself. But if it was left to long before the ring was cut off it may always appear swollen.

Hi Phil i have bred plenty of winners for myself and others. i have also bred some very good stock pigeons for other people as you are probably aware, the only reason i put some input into this thread was to show that you can breed good pigeons from untried pigeons, In fact i bred the Welsh South East Combine Winner from Lillers in 2009 from a unraced G Dtr of 8985 mated to an unraced cock as i said in my original post many roads lead to Rome. I aint got nothing else to say about it really but thanks for your comment.

I have always believed that a pre potent breeder is worth a dozen winning pigeons, as i have had plenty of winning pigeons but very few pre potent breeders i would agree you do have to test the pigeons. For the record the above example i gave was in fact a super breeding pigeon a lot better than his 2 brothers that i raced and were 1st prize winners against over 9000 birds, i sold his nest mate and he bred 17 x 1st for the new owner he to was unraced, even when paired onto a hen with a similar number of unraced birds but from a different line he bred me my best racer ever, once i get a Champion pigeon then i will use him for inbreeding to fix the winning genes there,s a lot more chance of keeping the vigour when you inbreed to a cross bred which is usually the result of testing the likes of 8985 offspring with other lines, So i guess many roads lead to Rome.

What would you say are chances of this pigeon ever breeding a winner, 8985 unraced, from 7834, unraced, & 0090 unraced parents of 7834 & 0090 where also unraced. ?

The Taffy Bowen Trophy Champion Sprinter of Wales 0 to 300 miles, JOD Trophy Champion Young Bird of Wales, Queens Cup Champion Pigeon over 300miles and as far as i know it has never been any different, pigeon racing in Wales is a shambles glad im out of it, never thought id say that. If there was not so many different Nationals and different organisations perhaps the judging of the WHPU Trophy,s would be a lot simpler lets be honest some of the past WHPU trophy winners were flying against 9000 birds from Thurso and in excess of 18,000 in the Sprint Catagory now im not saying the big birdage made them any better winners but what i am saying is in those days the birds were all competed against each other not as it is these days when you get several different races for people to chew over when they are having to decide what bird is the best:( :( ps I cant remember the guys name he flew in Grange town Cardiff he had a cock that was 1st Fed Carlile & 1st Fed Roslin Park i can remember thinking at the time it would be a strong contender for the Taffy Bowen Trophy but it was not entered as he was flying over 300 mile from Roslin Park.
