I have read through most of the topics over the weekend and I would just like to point out that Richard (and myself) have been very busy this weekend and Richard has been at my parents with me, as we had a wedding to attend yesterday (which we only found out about last week) and today have been at my grandparents. Richard is now on a train heading back up to Hartlepool and will online at some stage tonight (depending on the internet connection on the train). So please be patient and you'll get replies to your questions, etc

You need to join the pending sellers group, found in the for sale section and then read the details on the pending sellers board, where you will find the details that need to be pm'd to me.

we would really need more room on the stand tho and I'm sure the forms for the DEFRA stuff had to be in when we sent off the stand application form. also, if it was at another venue, a time would have to be worked out, probably in the evening because everybody would be in the winter gardens for most of the day, dont even know if pigeon shows are held in the evening?
-
not sure about that jimmy, seem to remember when filling the forms out for the stand, there were several others that you had to put in if you were having birds on the stand. Just had a look at the information we've got and something about DEFRA, bio-security and having proof of vaccinations for all birds to be sold etc...
-
its a good idea, but would need to be in a separate venue, as would need more room on the stand etc, also would the question of when to hold the show, as we will be tied up for most of the day at the show, but it could be looked into

Mickie B Trophy 2008 Entries
grizzle_hen replied to Webmaster's topic in Novices, Beginners & Young Fanciers
We still haven't received anything yet but we have got an offer of it being picked up which is going to be the next step now -
If you read youngzimmy's original post, I believe it is generally about the price of birds, so that can be the title and the 'prices of birds' is a very general title, so not putting people into boxes
-
This has been taken off Roundo's for sale topic and made into a new topic about the price of birds in general

Well done to both of you, getting schools involved is a good way to get children interested and involved in pigeons

Just thought that I would highlight one of the new books for sale on the Pigeonbasics Shop http://pigeonbasics.com/shop/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=29 Pigeons by Andrew Blechman £10 This book is written by a non-Pigeon fancier in America who was intrigued by the two opposing views of pigeons - hated by some and loved by others. He has travelled around America and Europe to discover more about pigeons talking to many including Frank Tasker, Mike Tyson (who I didn't realise is a pigeon fancier), Dr Jean Hansell (an expert on dovecotes), amongst many others to help his insight into pigeons. This book is very informative and a good read for pigeon fanciers and non-fanciers alike With it coming up to Christmas, last order dates for Christmas will be Friday 19th December

No, we won't be at Doncaster, but we will be at Blackpool

Remember that there is the Pigeonbasics Fund which is set up for this: http://pigeonbasics.com/fund/

please keep this thread on topic without reducing it to petty tit for tat

All courier topics should be on the new board (unless I've missed any). So any topics about pigeon couriers should now be posted on the courier board.
-
A new board has been set up for courier topics, this can be found in the 'lost and found' section under "couriers" All topics that are on the "stray centre" board are being moved onto the "couriers" board. So if you can't find a courier topic it's been moved onto the courier board

moderation how much and when
grizzle_hen replied to ChrisMaidment08's topic in Website News, Views & Computer Related Info
It's interesting to read what members think about moderating etc and it is always a hard thing to do (moderating that is) and its good for a thread like this where members can express their views on moderating. Moderating is something hard to do, for example a reply is made to a post and its not abusive but could be read as so etc, you read the reply and are not sure, so leave it there, then you get a reported thread or pm's with complaints about the reply. So you then re-read it and remove it. Good, you've dealt with something. But then another handful of members then complain because it has been removed. So it seems that you can never please everyone. Another point with moderation is that every topic and every reply may not always be read or missed, so some things may slip off the radar for whatever reason, so this is why we need members to use the report to moderator button, especially if there is something that is threatening to another member, abusive or anything else (or you can always pm a moderator who is online at that time). In terms of chit-chat, a bit of banter is good yes, I can understand that in terms of the seriousness of some topics, but one thing that I think would help is if you want your banter use the chit-chat board, you can banter with each other as much as you want, maybe set up a banter thread for every day (I think Richard may have suggested this already), then you can post up whatever you want (within reason obviously, I mean don't start swearing at each other etc), just a suggestion -
Will do, and I think entries for the trophy are being taken until December
