The idea of the new 'for sale' section is that people selling items will be pre-approved before they can sell anything -

Interesting article - pigeons as drug mules
grizzle_hen replied to grizzle_hen's topic in Notice Board
Well the Queen recently gave some pigeons to a young offenders unit http://www.pigeonbasics.com/news/news386.html -
Found an interesting article about some inmates in Bosnia using pigeons to smuggle drugs into the prision. The pigeons were originally given to the inmates as work therapy, but then attached little bags to get drugs into the prision. http://www.balkaninsight.com/en/main/life_and_style/12537/

Read my original reply to this thread (no-one seemed to have read it or considered it)

get in touch with bewted, he looks after the stray centre board, maybe you two could work together in getting something up and running
-
I think this is a really good idea and especially as there are members from all over the country and its always hard to get people on board on the forum - but the ideal place and I know its a while away, but Blackpool is the best place, considering that we saw pretty much most of the pb members there and meeting people face to face makes it easier to get people involved. Keep going with the idea and see how many people you can get on board here, start it off small, then present it to people at Blackpool - because then you say with 4 people the stray collection has worked/been successful and then you'll get more people on board
-
To be honest, pigeons can seem a bit scary, for a while I really hated the sound of them flying and flapping around in the loft, especially when your feeding them, so Richard got me used to them, by showing me how to hold one and showing me the babies (which I liked). So maybe, if he gradually introduces them to her, she might grow to like them

I've got it at home in London, my mum got in installed last week and the only bad thing about it is that your subscription fee increases by about £10. But being able to record is pretty good and you can choose when to watch most programmes, especially movies. My sister has already pre-programmed a series to be recorded. I think its best to do when they're doing some sort of upgrade deal

Government response to pigeon racing as a sport
grizzle_hen replied to Bluedoo's topic in Notice Board
Of course they've passed the buck, thats all the government does, but you can't let it stop you -
Government response to pigeon racing as a sport
grizzle_hen replied to Bluedoo's topic in Notice Board
Well if it did get passed as a sport, maybe it could be the thing that unites everyone? Also if there was support from the sports council, it would be easier to promote the sport and other things like that :-/ -
Campaign for the protection European birds (POLL)
grizzle_hen replied to DOVEScot's topic in Predators
I was watching reporting scotland last night and they had a story about it being the start of grouse season and how the numbers in some areas have declined because of eagles (and there's another bird of prey), I can't find the story on the bbc website and when I searched for it on google I couldn't find anything. Just thought that the 'grouse' people might be another lot to get involved, especially as I read somewhere that the RSPB had criticized them for shooting these eagles, just an idea -
Government response to pigeon racing as a sport
grizzle_hen replied to Bluedoo's topic in Notice Board
Now that there's been a response from 'No 10' and have been told to contact the relevant sports councils, why don't we set up something to go to each of the sports councils? As we have enough people on here from all over the UK to get in contact with the sports councils, we could select one member to represent england, wales, northern ireland and scotland, and then again draw up a petition for each part of the UK and present it to them? I would be happy (with the help of Richard) to get this done. Also, what are the advantages and disadvantages (if there are any) of pigeon racing being classified as a sport? -
You should look at the Pigeonbasics Shop http://www.pigeonbasics.com/shop/ there are a number of DVD's and books for sale there
-
You should also tell them to get in contact with Richard, maybe he could help with advertising on the site
-
Well I don't know what their advertising was like, but it could have been a matter of not many people seeing their post on here and with everyone using Amtrak however bad they are, the new company or any new pigeon courier company really needs to do lots of advertising to show whys its better than Amtrak, hopefully AM deliveries will keep going and maybe they'll be at Blackpool :-/
-
AM deliveries is also a member of the forum, heres the thread that was advertising them http://forum.pigeonbasics.com/m-1214428431/s-0/#num0 Maybe if people are interested about this service they should email the company to log their support and maybe the forum members can help them
-
Here is a link to their website http://www.amdeliveries.com/index.html?_ret_=return it was added to the Pigeonbasics.com links section about a month ago, I'm sure I've seen a post on here about them before

selling birds on this site
grizzle_hen replied to just ask me's topic in Website News, Views & Computer Related Info
money isn't being made out of it, any money that comes from the site either goes into running it or goes into the pigeonbasics fund, this whole website is for pigeon fanciers and to benefit them -

grizzle_hen replied to just ask me's topic in Website News, Views & Computer Related Info
This site is more than a forum, its a whole website so the set up fees etc will be more than for your site maybe, and yes the mods to a lot of work and so does Richard -

You still better off asking Richard, its not my place to say how much, and my post of this thread was just in response to those who said that it doesn't cost anything to run this site -
