It's exactly the replies like yours that start all these arguments and problems.

I think the webmaster or one of the mods should lock this post now before it gets out of hand
-
Because they are cold (and cuddly)
-
Thank you maverick, you have illustrated that its not a good idea to have your contact details on a forum. And I'm sorry that you were subject to something like that.
-
well yes, stupider things have happened. Especially as the forum seems to be less and less about pigeons and more about members nit picking with each other, as seen over the weekend!
-
I realize that you are being honest and showing yourself as a real person instead of hiding behind your computer, but its not wise posting up your address and contact details, and as you have said you have made friends and enemies, so you don;t want the wrong person to see your details.
-
Dovescot it probably got removed because you've posted up your address and contact details, which isn't a good thing to do on an open forum.
-
You have a very good point oldguy, people seem to be more interested in arguing and nit picking at each other, then helping each other and answering genuine questions. I hope someone can help you with your question
-
The forum is only getting out of control because of the few that are spoiling it for others. It is there conduct that is ruining it for everyone else. Those members know who they are and should think long and hard about their conduct, as they are causing good members to leave.

Vet's Tips for Fanciers tells you about using vitamin E and some other things to prolong breeding life.
-
Also, you can prolong the breeding life of good male birds vitamin E, carotene and some other hormones. Sorry just an interesting fact that I found
-
I've read about this in 'Vet's Tips for Fanciers' Apparently its quite rare but female pigeons can become male and this only works in one way, it occurs during development, where a female pigeon have only one functioning ovary and then there are certain factors that can lead her to become male. There's a lot of information about it, I would recommend the book as it's very good (best buy on Pigeonbasics, best price that I've found)

Come on people, what about the paper petition, this will have more grounding and surely will get more signatures as you can take it your club, pub, where-ever and get lots of signatures. The government probably get loads of those online petitions, but if we can hand them sheets after sheets of paper with hundreds of signatures then surely they will listen more!

Do you not think of the pressure that this puts on the Webmaster? He has set up an online show, after people asked him to, he has done this and people have cheated. Now if he starts to name and shame as most of you have said, think of the pm's and messages that he will then get from those proclaiming there innocence. Cheating is wrong and that is that, but I think we are all old enough now to own up if we have cheated, we are not at school anymore and we can take responsibility for our actions. The webmaster shouldn't have to name and shame those, they should come forward themselves. And I believe he is going to remove those that have cheated anyway and we don't want a witch-hunt. Now I have enjoyed the online show so far (don't have any birds so have entered myself) but I voted and enjoyed looking at people's birds, because it's a nice way to show everyone what you do all year and its a bit of fun. So everyone should remember that and those that have cheated should come forward to the Webmaster, just out of respect for everyone else that has entered, voted and to the Webmaster for setting it up. I don't mean to disrespect anyone with what I have said, but I just wanted to voice my opinion and that is all

I STILL THINK WHEN IT CAME DOWN TO ME OR COXY,THE WEBMASTER SHOULD HAVE IMMEDIATELY BANNED COXY! WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE NOW-WEBMASTER PLEASE NOTE! It's good that your staying, but I still don't think you understand about banning Coxy. By keeping him on the site as a blacklisted member means that we all have his details as a member and can look for new members who might be Coxy by using his previous details. Also banning him would have encouraged him even more to come on under some new names and cause the same problems. Also being blacklisted means that the webmaster and the mods can keep an eye on him and his IP address.
-
Pigeonpete, I agree with getting him off the site with IP addresses but banning the IP addresses wouldn't work, as they are dynamic meaning that they change everytime you connect to the internet (think of the members that have two accounts on here).
-
You obviously have not been reading the posts properly. Most of the members and the webmaster have highlighted the fact that Coxy cannot be banned because in doing so he will just come back as someone else and cause the same problems. The same goes for banning his IP address, which would not work as these addresses can easily change. You have also missed the posts about Coxy being blacklisted. This site is properly run and it's people like Coxy that ruin it for others. Also with the Coxy problem, the best thing that the members can do is support Dovescot in reporting Coxy to the RPRA, Police and any other authority that can properly deal with this matter.

** Jamie Cox - Coxy - Blacklisted **
grizzle_hen replied to DOVEScot's topic in Guidelines, Help & Advice
I agree with you about stopping him accessing the site, but if you ban him he will just come back under another name and do the same thing again. Also banning the IP address wouldn't help as they can easily change. -
Thank you for the replies to my post, but in reply to mac1, gangster and various others, when the auction was set up and announced, there was no mention of it being in aid of superstar. If you read the news section of the website about the auction: http://www.pigeonbasics.com/news/news336.html It clearly states that the auction is to set up a fund to help those who have been victims of arson attacks, the case of superstar is a house fire. And specifically these arson attacks are directed at pigeon fanciers and their pigeons. Here is what the webmaster posted about the auction in the news when it was first announced in Feb: "Much thought has gone into the beneficiary for the 2007 auction, which will be the Pigeonbasics.com Fund. It was noticed throughout this winter season that a new attack on pigeons, pigeon racing, and pigeon fanciers; attacks occurring almost weekly, devastating years of work put in by so many fanciers. The Pigeonbasics.com Fund has been setup this year to help pigeon fancier victims of arson, criminal damage on pigeon lofts, and on pigeon racing equipment. Help for the fanciers to re-establish themselves within our sport, and continue to participate racing pigeons." In reply to Tammy's post, thank you for backing me up on the set up of the fund and I agree that superstar should apply, and then it will be up to the committee.
-
In reply to what most people have been saying about the auction/fund, the application form/process has to well thought out so that the money goes to the right people. Also, with no disrespect to superstar(mark), the fund has been set up to help those people that have lost birds/lofts due to arson attacks and other criminal damage. And to my knowledge, the case of superstar was a house fire? Also if you read the information on the fund it also states what it will be used for: "The 2007 Pigeonbasics.com Fund is in aid of pigeon fanciers that have unfortunately fallen the victim to an act of arson, or criminal damage towards lofts, or other pigeon racing equipment." Superstar's case is a bad thing and it would be nice to help him, but I feel that the fund is directed at something slightly different.

I think it will be £3,500 good luck ;D
