im surprised they even took the bird on the chopper. i keep and race doos and work offshore. have for 26 years. and the helicopter companies are sometimes funny about taking in racing pigeons!! god knows why. but if its a hawk. owl. even gannets n gulls. smaller migrating birds not a problem. ive asked the question why. and its because its a and i quote from a pilot" its a live animal" obviously other birds are not live. ive had that response from quite a few pilots over the years. i resorted to sending pigeons in on the standby & supply boats. im not saying they all refused but more times than not would not take them. john
