Strange one.Hope they work back anyway.wonder if the doos flying across the country-East to West have been mixed up with some of the ones heading up the country Am dain a gid enough job losing our youngsters fi the tossing but will probably have some fer Coldstream next week
Aye they seem to have been pretty handy doos across here. Heard that Jock Reid had a pair brought over for him by "Old Hand". This pair were responsible for "Daphnes Delight" and the pigeon that was 3rd open SNFC from the same race for Jock Reid
He couldnae have been nicer to me Colin He even showed me the secret sweeties he used to gi the doos when they came back from a hard race I went to the sale and bought a red chequer hen-in a rush of blood spending £210 Most I've EVER spent on a doo!! Sadly this hen was killed by a hawk in front of the loft Got a few doos cutting about though off the orignal ones he gave me. Yearling Red cock came at half 6 from Ypres and a 2 yo hen out of Clermont so looking forward to seeing what they doo next year Could not meet a nicer man.He told me about the stray that won Avranches flying to his loft as weel.Top class!! http://forum.pigeonbasics.org/topic/40753-favourite-colour-of-pigeon/page__st__20 Have a look at post no 36 on this thread
Aye I'm talking about the Ypres Kings Davie Young & son-Think his worst position since the race began is 52nd His red cock was 22nd and 60oddth in the race but he was hawked at the start of last year.Davie doesnae really think hes been the same doo since so hes stopped him now as the babies off him are dain well
Favourite Red pigeon I've ever handled was Jimmy Hamilton's 1992 Gold Award winner It was at the loft of Ian "Toddler" Brown-his 1st Section D 13th open Reims was a red chequer hen as well.He had loads of red doos-think they came through Jimmy Feeney and Jimmy Hamilton. He gifted me 2 red chequers and a red when I was still a wean .One of them bred the hen that was my first bird from Clermont last week-hoping this hen has a bright future Toddler Brown was an absolute gentleman and its probably the nicest loft visit I've ever been on
Gave ye the warning King Billy That farm in Lauder is one of the best lib sites I've found fer tossing on that line and its a bit further up than the river. Hume Castle is the very best yin though http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&xhr=t&q=hume+kelso&cp=10&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=1280&bih=709&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x48877022ba29bc1d:0xf7a2dc9ff75d72ae,Hume,+Kelso,+The+Scottish+Borders&gl=uk&ei=sPsnTsT3JIyp8QPBkKmQCw&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=title&resnum=5&sqi=2&ved=0CEAQ8gEwBA
Few top performers over the course of the races-W.Gray and Son,B.W Kelly,John Duthie,John McNeill,Andy Millar,John Bosworth,Davy Elliot,Crombie and Mechan amongst many others
Aye can't complain too much-first year flying in the SNFC since starting back and managed 7 diplomas onwards and upwards Well done again on the Silver Award.Hope another yin comes your hens way next season
Occasionally seen a perfectly healthy doo do this-old or young.Usually after a long fly/not using their legs for a lengthy period of time. Always thought it was bit like a person sitting for a few hours, maybe on a long flight etc. when they go to stand up they'll give their legs a shake. Or you could just face the facts Martin and accept that yer doos are riddled wi mites
Aye your right there Derek. First time in over 500 miles since starting back Yer Spider seems to fairly leaving his mark on your loft now.Top Class pigeon!!!
Cheers Alan. Not sure if they'll make the result but pleased wi the way they came Still waiting on one-a yearling hen. Good yer wee hens hame, another old bird fer ye next year
