  1. One of my clubmates got a second one back today Heard down the club there was one reported in Thurso
  2. Was told by the master to always take some youngsters in June off your best pigeons. The doos should be in their best condition all year at this time. Its obviously warmer and the days are at their longest so they are getting fed more etc. Got half a dozen cuttin aboot just now.I'll no throw them away next year though as I did this season
  3. Gave them 5 tosses as babies. One from Livingston(approx 15miles).One from Roberton and Peebles which are roughly 30 mile and one from Stow and Dunbar which are 40odd mile. They had 9 races this year to Huntingdon(286 miles)and they were hardly ever out the first half dozen to the loft.I sent them to Ypres and have never seen them since We live and learn
  4. Got 26 away to Coldstream with the Northwest fed.Hoping one or two of them can hold on to big Grahamys and get a tow up the road Will have to get tossing the later ones shortly, thinking about starting tomorrow
  5. I had a pair of cracking June bred yearling cocks coming well this season. Biggest regret of the season was sending them to Ypres
  6. I like latebreeds Will maybe take a bit 6 or 8,they'll be out all winter and will get a lot of tossing next year two of the best doos in the hut just now were September bred
  7. 6 wull I was trying to remember ma sel.Think it was the YB season in 2003 Cannae mind the race point.Bishop Auckland maybe J & H McGlynn Topped the fed that day I think
  8. Ma da jammed the clock on his first race,it still has the chisel marks to this day
  9. I thought my cable tie pair would be hard to beat on the nest building front. They have however met their match in a two year old cock this morning A bit rainy this morning so I cracked oan the pigeon tammy We've got a green hut,a blue and red hut. Usually do the green yin first in the mornings.Theres a wee seat in there I use when feeding the doos. Was getting a bit warm wi the tammy on so left it on the seat before going in the blue and red huts. I came back to find it was gone I thought I was going mad for a minute as I was positive I'd left it there. On closer inspection a two year cock had it in his nest bowl He has now been named "Hats off"
  10. Its happened to our fed in the past.As recent as last year in fact they were struck on lib. We're going there next week and the week after . Getting difficult to find better alternatives. I wasnae at the AGM so I cannae criticise the NW fed programme at all
  11. Some of the boys up here call it Slaughterburn Good enough race with the old birds this year though if memory serves me well
  12. Aye you go through Greenlaw to get to it John. A nicer place to liberate doos I have yet to find, especially on a day like today Would be a crackin place to clock a national winner-as would anywhere mind you
  13. Good toss today from Hume Castle Got 7 together at first then they all worked in over an hour or so. Go fer a short yin the morra then maybe send a few to Coldstream on Friday night
  14. Seen a pair before in the nest at someones loft. They were from a mother son pairing-not sure if that was the reason or not.
  15. Cheers goggs Will give him a phone just now.Its no gone far, think the doos must've brought it back wi them today.
  16. Any info that could help get this bird back with its owner?? Cheers Lewis
  17. Good luck George, hope ye get a good race Look forward to hearing how ye get on
  18. Coldstreams around 60 miles to the shortest flying Avonbridge members blucock
  19. Eastbourne 11/11 Messac 0/3 Ypres 9/12 Clermont 4/5 =24/31 Was gutted losing the three best birds to the loft from Messac and in hindsight I shouldn't have sent two of the birds to Ypres I lost as they were yearling latebreds and had been coming well. All in all though its been good experience for the birds that are left going into next season. At the start of the year had no birds that had crossed the channel, now have 12
  20. Well done Grahamy and the Avonbrig lads
  21. Got a good wee toss this afternoon Hoping to go to Hume the morra lunchtime
  22. Fair enough
  23. You could be right about Daphne's Delight Lanarkshire Lad.I think S.W.E Bishop had a lot of Delbars.I dare say Jock Reid would've had some of them as well
  24. Good stuff Martin. Its a nice night wouldnae be surprised if more turn up tonight fer ye I've never been to an airshow so don't really know the ins and outs of it.The show started at 12,would planes and jets be arriving at this thing all morning or goin on practice flights etc.?? I only ask this is as I've seen first hand the effects they jets have on doos.Very occasionally theres low flying fighter jets come down over Avonbrig in line wi Limerigg.Years ago we had a team ae doos out on a Thursday night before the race, this thing tore by them it was the next day before we saw some of them again It could just be another one of they mystery races that gets talked about on here.Seemingly perfect race conditions but far from perfect racing. Could've done without the NW wind for the first YB race
  25. Just spoke to my dad and he thinks there was an air show on in the east of the country today. Was there??
