  1. Aye he had some classy pigeons. They Van Eijdens were smashers-just wee doos, mare like sparras actually A lot of them had white flights It was a dark chequer wf we got on the night from the Gold Cup.Got him again on the night from Falaise 3 weeks later and he won diplomas from the Gold Cup and Falaise again the following season.Don't think I ever actually seen this pigeon coming from a club race though-he was always at the coos tail.
  2. I'll go for Section B to win the Open Good luck to all involved
  3. Good reading once more Rab Hamilton 1st Section D.He was phenomenal at his peak-think he is the furthest West Fancier to have won the East section averages. Davy Rose is another name that pops up-ma dad bought a bird of his at Musselburgh one year-great pigeon to him Notice Mick McGoff in there as well. The first pigeon that ever won a race for me was one from him-it was a blue hen-think it was Towlaw 2001,still got the ticket The only pigeon we've ever timed on the night from the gold Cup was from him as well
  4. How did this sale go?? What birds made the big money??
  5. Some great names-I love looking back at the old results I've got a pile of yellow results and tickets in a box I got from an old clubmate of mine when he packed up.Will get them on over the winter
  6. Derek Reis had a cock he called "Young Prince" it bred a pair we called(unimaginatively) "47" and "48" My dad had a lot of good doos before I started but "47" is the best bird I have ever raced with him.In 14 races as a YB and yearling he was or was with the first birds to the loft 12 times. He failed to return from his 15th race-a fairly easy 154 miler the week before the Fed Open from Maidstone "48" his nest mate came with him one day today win 1st club and was 6th SCC Falaise(515miles) as a 2 yo year old Smashing pair of pigeons By strange coincidence my best pair of birds last year from a totally unrelated pigeon were numbered 1847 and 1848.Oddly enough "47" was lost from the Fed open Maidstone, his 10th race of the season but "48" was our 2nd bird and was the most consistent bird to the loft this year Theres a lesson here somewhere I'm sure
  7. haha Have a good race all who enter

  10. interesting to hear some people talk of the Dundee controller as a "maverick" but when you look at the Clermont result maybe hes doing them a favour??
  11. Derek Reis of Honeysuckle lofts are up with the best birds we've ever raced from Coldstream to Falaise Some of his birds originate direct from the Brothers themselves but he told me some his best come from the Eijerkamps-so Ponderosa may be worth a try Have Honeysuckle no sold up??
  12. To retard the moult of natural youngsters some people split them get them repaired so they'll be on a big young bird for yer big races/when they'd usually break into a heavy moult. They basically keep replacing a week old youngster often as possible. Not letting the racing YBs feed a big youngster so its not takin too much out of them but they are still motivated and will stay in good feather as supposedely they won't moult when feeding a YB
  13. Think the old style sale in halls etc are a great social occasion-not that am very sociable or buy doos at sales but it would be a shame to see the death of these for the folk who like to catch up with old friends and enjoy a day out with their fellow doo men
