I like the STBs but can see the advantages with the ETS. Otterburn with the old birds last year turned out to be a bit quicker than I expected.I was watching for the doos when I had a call of nature, thought I'd have time so nipped into the house when I came back out there was 8 doos in. The moral of the story-don't have a KFC Zinger tower meal the evening before an early liberation

Will notice a drastic decrease in the number of BOP attacks at my loft as of today.Got our guard birds back-the peewees have returned . Theres usually some nest in the field at the back of the loft every year, saw they're back today. No mammal, bird or amphibian is safe

Would take an Iron pigeon to fly those kinna distances.I know of John Ellis good cock "Endurance" and I think Jock Reid timed a pigeon in from one of the Spanish racepoints?? Would yous say theres a distance though when its no longer really a race as such but a test of survival??

I live in an area known as up the Braes Falkirk ,its a selection of small ex-mining villages in central Scotland.Admittidely I don't have a lot of first hand experience with immigrants but the ones I have come across work in shops from half 5 in the morning til 10 at night supplying fags and booze to the local DHS folks who are the only people who seem to be able to afford this lifestyle. Thank f*** for our hard working immigrants for amusing our brew scroungers until the pubs open at 11 o'clock

3rd of July 1937 Rennes. The strings were cut at 7am liberating 4119 birds that called Scotland their home. With a South wind it was expected to be fast one, just how fast no one knew. That question was answered North of the Eden just after 4 O'clock as Annan's Johnny Kirkpatrick timed his chequer cock-"Coronation Expess" to become the fastest Kings Cup Winner in the History of the SNFC.Velocity-1559,a record that stood for 30 years. 2.G.Anderson,Annan 3.J.Henderson,Annan 4.J.Kirkpatrick,Annan 5.D.Martin,Fauldhouse 6.W.J.Robertson,Annan 7.T.McCrorrie,Galston 8.McIntyre Bros,Meikledrumgray 9.G.Grierson,Motherwell 10.H.Michie,Tillicoutry 11.Shearer Bros. Tic Beans
Rooster J. Cogburn replied to TylerDurden28's topic in Novices, Beginners & Young Fanciers
Not too different from what you said to be honest.Hormoform is good alongside any high protein feed. I like Bamfords Channel mix but theres loads of good mixes out there. -

Coxydene in East Calder sell various straights one of them being tic beans. Not sure how much they'll be mind you.Would imagine between £8 and £10 a bag. -

For Sale By Auction Sunday 27 Feb At Newmains
Rooster J. Cogburn replied to gulkie's topic in Notice Board
How did the sale go today?? -
Its surprising how quickly doos bounce back.Would imagine they'll be fine in a day or two. They might disrupt your other doos now though if they don't have boxes and the others are down on eggs.

Have heard many tales about a good barren hen that raced in my club years ago. Any PB members had any luck with them? any tips on how to get the best out of them?

Something No Right
Rooster J. Cogburn replied to Whats it called Cumbernauld's topic in Help - What's wrong with my bird?
Check the wood on the lower part of your loft for scratch marks. I had a fox annoying the birds once. They seemed fine health wise but were unsettled as you say. -
Looked over the advert again just now and to be honest there isnae really anything to put to bed. Everythings been covered in this thread so theres no point in repeating it but basically if folk don't trust the man or want his pigeons theres a fairly straight forward solution to that-dinna buy them. I'm sure some body though will and maybe even get a good turn with them.

That Hesse cock was a stoater!!

"If two fanciers took 20 birds each from the same family, and one of them was a sprint racer and the one a distance flyer within 10 years the sprinter would have a loft of sprinting birds and the distance flyer would have a loft of distance birds both having started with exactly the same family of birds, the simple reason being that the sprinter will only breed from birds that win in short races and the distance flyer will only breed from birds that scored from a distance." Quite like this Its taken from Joe Murphy's article on the 20+ times North Section Winner Jim Donaldson
