I hope so too mate, not often we get visitors from such far flung corners of the world and it would be great to think we were able to help them out, and in turn encourage him and more of the fanciers around him to be frequent visitors to the site. Cheers, John.

Here's a VERY strange event that happened to us with one we purchased from Jimmy. We bought a Choc Pied Cadou Ck from him to pair with a Dk Cheq hen we had bred from one of his crossed with the Cattrysse pigeons. We put it in with the hen but both just stood looking at each other for weeks, with no attempt whatsoever by the Ck to pair up. The racing season had started but still no sign of it pairing up, i met Jimmy at Newmains one day around the 3rd race of the season and told him about the Ck's failure to pair up. He told me to come up as he had 2 ready to wean and i could take my pick of them. The very SECOND i put the youngster into the Yb section where the Ck was now resident he responded by trying to pair onto it, it was like switching a light on and an unbelievable sight to see. We then put him back in with the original hen, and he paired up immediately!! the hen laid on the Monday before the 5th or 6th race. That hen topped the fed that week sitting 5 day eggs, it was the first time we ever topped Lanarkshire Fed winning the Wm Rae Memorial trophy. Very Strange but absolutely true, i had never seen the like of this before and haven't since and i am still baffled as to how this came about

Aye Del, there were rumours galore about old Jimmy, none of which had any substance to them.

Naw Jimmy, that was a myth, his loft consisted of 4 separate sections. It was a square shaped loft, very large too. It had a corridor running through the middle from front to back and side to side, creating a cross. The four corners of the loft were each individual sections with nest boxes and perches in each. As far as i could see he did not have a separate section for his Yb's, instead they were left in with the old birds after weaning. He had regular sales at Newmains club, most birds going for a tenner with the odd one or two fifteen or twenty quid. ALL birds came from Louella, or were bred from Louella birds, with the exception of one that he got from the Queens lofts. It was the first doo that caught my eye when i visited him but it wasn't for sale at any price. He was a real gentleman who had no wish to make his fortune from his sales. i think he just enjoyed the whole idea of breeding and selling with the hope that he would breed someone a champion. In all i reckon my father purchased around 8 to 10 birds from him and in all honesty not one was a waste of money because when crossed into our inbred/line bred doos they produced birds to score in the club and fed for years. I still have at stock a Ck with some of the Cadou pigeons genes in it. I hope he is still with us but at his age when moving i doubt very much he is.

Jimmy Beatie lived in Symington Sammy. He moved to Australia to live with his son when his health began to deteriorate. Nice man who sold doos for buttons. My late father bought Leopold Cadou birds from him and crossed them into our Cattrysse family with great success. Cheers John.

15 years in nursing taught me more about storage of medicines than anyone on the forum can tell me. Arrogant??? Definitely NOT its just a fact.

Well i'm a bit late with this feedback but my doos have not looked back since putting the vaccinated late breds in beside them. I took these pics on Monday of this week. The late bred birds are pictured on the loft floor with the others in the veranda of the loft. The late breds have been out in the garden and had a wee flutter from loft to loft, all are looking very well within themselves. Cheers John.

TheHigg picked me up a 25kg bag of Barley for £5.50 yesterday. I went tonight and got 2x20kg bags of Versa Laga traditional, 1x20kg bag of Show mix, and a 25kg bag of Natural Moulting mix, £55.00 all in for 110kg's of feeding. Good bad or indifferent price i'm not too sure of but All mixed together i reckon it will be a well balanced mix for the winter.

By FAR the best method is the beer. Get down yer local and ask for the beer out of the drip trays, put it into a Margarine tub and put it in the ground near the loft. It will be Full of slugs by morning. No mess or fuss, I give it to the local gardeners and they are AMAZED at the number they find in it.

Well done Gareth, you'll sleep better tonight. When the pup gets up a bit all your vermin troubles will be over.

That's the best repy yet lol. I kept 8 pairs in a section 4' wide 8' deep and had my best ever season that year. Hope that helps. I would split the shed side to side not front to back if you can?
