    Hi

Mine do it when they are young and excited at flying the first few times, but it passes and the only time they do it is when it's hot and humid, i think the Humidity is a bigger factor when they do pant, i never concern myself about it cos i know they are fine. ;)
  3. I went into the NFC website results section and lo and behold the results only go back to 1998!! D'ya Think this is just a coincidence ??
  4. It'll be 100 years after the first one :D :D
  5. Here Here, and well done to you Frank for getting the best out of them, top dooman

    Old Birds Free

Well done Vinnie, you've done the man and yourself proud. I hope he can get back into the pigeons in future, even as a partner to someone, sounds to me he would be an asset to any loft. Best of luck to him in the meantime ;)
  7. Ma Da was hard on you if you even BENT the truth, you never done it twice!! :D :D
  8. Lanarkshire are at Otterburn, 79mls 790yds to me. 47ish going to it. :)
  9. I Never tell lies
  10. I went the other day and got ma self enough to last the program, 2 bags of V/L Sport extra, 2 bags of super young bird and 2 bags of economy mix. I mixed them all together and came up with what i think looks good for them, with plenty wee stuff in it As a titbit i kibbled peanuts and mixed them with Red Band, Sunflower Hearts and hormoform, they go crazy for this!!
  11. Will bring it up no prob mate, nice wee doo just unlucky to get hit at this time of season!
  12. Alf Baker's book Winning Naturally is a great read, maybe old fashioned but still some very good insights to how he motivated his doos. Even if a non fancier picked it up they would grasp the man's methods.
  13. This doo came in tonight, its secondries are out but its otherwise ok. Any info on it would be helpful
  14. Agree entirely with this, Rest is just as important to them as exercise and bearing in mind the work they've put in getting back i would rest them all week to give them some zest back before the race
  15. You've no had Bigda about your place have you? I heard he makes Faces at doos and they're never the same again :D :D
  16. No i don't Derek, not at all. But i think part of my management is keeping as many predators away from me as possible, if a cat is about i get rid of it, if its a fox i get rid of it and if its flying i set a trap for it and get rid of it. I'm feckin sure i'm no gonna work ma Ass off then let an outside influence of ANY kind disrupt my birds. I see it as my RESPOSIBILITY to my doos to get rid of EVERYTHING that upsets them, and i don't rest 'til its done!! I absolutely believe the answer to all fanciers problems with the doos is in the mirror, have always believed that and always will. I wasn't trying to be smart, in fact i never seen that it was your thread until i responded to it, so i wrote what i honestly believe to be the answer to the problem. :D
  17. Its no an Instant cure George but persevere for a week or two until they have all had a wee taste of hunger. Mind the ones who mess you about don't get a bean that night, its very important they don't as this is exactly what will condition them into behaving the way you want them to.
  18. In time they are Conditioned into landing where the best source of food is, they won't even look at the roofs. Rattle the pea can when they return HUNGRY and they'll drop onto the loft.
  19. You could google it, type in Tracing Mobile Phone Numbers and see what it gives you. I already know its not a company phone but have to go to the loft now as it seems my stragler has decided to turn up from the toss this morning. I'll know if its got any brains or not tomorrow, if its early its learned if its late again there is no hope for it :D
  20. I disagree with the view that something has frightened them to the extent that they are landing on roofs to avoid the loft. The Hawk has hit mine twice this year and after 40/50 mins they returned to the loft. The 2nd time it pinned one of them but i was right there and it bolted, the fox is visiting regular because i can smell it in this damp weather and i stung a Tam cat way the .22 about a week ago when it was sitting looking in at ma Yb's. They don't play up every time i let them out, they fly, land on the loft, and pick around the garden for a few minutes before i shout them in. Its bad management that has caused this and only good management will sort it, JM(STRONG)O!!
  21. Been advised its a Plean doo, Contact Mr T Law.
  22. SU 09 NW 4378. This bird was Picked up in Motherwell having been grabbed by a cat. Assured there is no lasting damage to it. Any takers or a number to contact??
  23. The only "weapon" you have is the feed tin, when they come in only give them half rations today. Toss them tomorrow and you'll see a difference. If they still mess about, same again tomorrow and so on 'til they come straight to the loft. Don't listen to anyone telling you no to starve them, its the quickest method available to you and it won't do them any harm
  24. Tape or tie a match stick to the UPPER part of the toe, this will keep it straight until it heels
  25. First time in the training van today, the first to arrive came just after 11am, when i left the loft at 12.45 i had 42/47, hopefully when i go back up later the others will be in.
