  1. There are no easy ways to win races Tam no matter what you choose to do with your loft but the men i mentioned in general only buy in distance stock whereas other fanciers buy in sprint middle and distance too, comes down tio what floats your boat and if you win at the races that mean most to you as a fancier your doing very well. I confess i couldn't keep up the momentum needed to win from start to finish of every season, no got the stamina for it but i have great admiration for those who can. The men i listed get equal admiration from me, because they have scored at the very top of distance races year after year and you know yourself how difficult that is to do. So that is why i listed those fanciers in particular because of the sustained performances of their birds. I do Not Disagree with any of your 3 choices and admire them just as you do, but i also think that distance men like those i named are due equal respect
  2. I'll no be drinking Sunday so the Saturday will need to do for me as well.
  3. John Hodgson, G, Rankin & son, Jim Hannah, Derek & Linda Hay, John Cosgrove & Son, Jim Cullen and there are more, all of these fanciers have been scoring for years at the races they Choose to do well in. They aren't interested in club racing so canny be judged against men who take that seriously, but compare their results in the races they compete in, against some of the afore mentioned fanciers and their results will stand up against them no problem.
  4. I've got no plans to buy doos at blackpool but will stock up on sundries for the season ahead. Mind you if i see something i really like i might just have a wee nod for it That is unlikely though so it will be Hormoform, chlorcarb, pick stones/blocks, grits, minerals, feeders, scrapers and anything else that catches my eye that i can make good use of.
  5. Will do but i'm working until about 3/3.30 so it'll be about 7/8 before i get doon, i'll have to see to the doos and pup before i leave but i'll bell you anyway when i'm heading doon.
  6. Might no be Easy but for Some its EASIER!! There is very little i can say about the number of wins in the north other than the distance being the biggest barrier to more success in to the Section. However when it comes to the Y/B National the doos are in the North before the West have one, some times the race in the North is finished before ours has started.
  7. I don't know the answer to that but I'll lay you London to an Orange its less than 5% of them and that is not a true reflection of the quality of birds sent from the West.
  8. Good i'll see you Thursday then and get warmed up for the weekend
  9. i'm talking about the Gold Cup, that was the race i referred to earlier in my posts, that is the one we All want to win
  10. Guid fir you
  11. Realised my mistake with the year Jock won it as soon as i read the post back. Canny remember a name for the Doo, can you Derek?
  12. We're talking the Gold Cup Danny no the other races.
  13. Eddie Callaghan fae Faulhouse in 1986 i think it was with a doo called Fallahill Superstar, before him John (Jock) Poole of Newmains won it 10 years earlier in 1976, to my knowledge they are the only 2 in the last 40 years, says it all.
  14. Are you in The Lawton Alan?
  15. Think i'll head down on the Thursday night and have a full day Friday getting my bearings, i'm hopeless at finding my way around Blackpool, Rab (WINGS04) and his Da will arrive in the afternoon, so i'll hook up with them and take it from there. I will spend most of Saturday in the WG looking at doos, unless the others have a better idea, and i think a few are meeting up for a Drink at TRACY69's hotel in the evening. Alf said there is a good crowd of PB members meet in a bar on the Saturday afternoon so i'll look out for him and get directions to that if we have time.
  16. The management committee RECOMMEND things to the members they do not Decide ANYTHING, so why you want me SHOT AT DAWN i do not know, but nice tae see what some people think like.
  17. I waited for about 20 mins after i put him in the hut and henever made a sound. My wee Mam said he was quiet all night as she was up 'til 4am no feeling well. He did the same tonight. He came out of a shed so i suppose that has helped him settle quickly. 1
  18. A hope no, thats an ugly get
  19. Then i'd need tae start talkin way a twang, i couldnae dae that tae ma self
  20. I don't believe the argument they Win from anywhere, they will win Money and win Section prizes but 1st Open is what Everyone wants and that CAN'T happen when some Very Good competitors have an advantage over others before the doos are sent, and loft location in relation to a liberation site is an advantage, no getting away from it as its the same and acknowledged world wide.
  21. Aye, ma sense a humour hisnae deserted me awe the gither
  22. When Eddie Newcombe was beating all before him, the very men who were jealous of his success and voted in a 12 bird limit are the very same one''s who have perpetuated the club racing from France because they want Everything in Their favour. I must say Jim, your argument leaves me a little perplexed considering you race on much the same line from East to West as i do. I mean how will you feel if you were 2nd open to a bird 50 miles East of you and the wind was Westerly. I'd be vomiting
  23. The guy sending 10 is in an advantageous position to start with that is why he sends 10, and the guy sending 2 lives near me
  24. I would love to know who decided birds are feart to fly over water for any great distance, you stated yourself the Ritchie pigeon Must have covered plenty of water to win its prize. Tell me this, do you think it would have achieved the same Open position if they raced from France that same day?
  25. How many times was Jock Allan 1st OPEN? NONE! Why? because he had nae chance before his doos were liberated.
