he was a good honest bird and over worked but i was young and eager , he could of achieved far more if managed better he raced every week from the off till i retired him even sent him a fortnight after winning Bourge512 miles to 420 miles he was 6th club , me new favourate pigeon is his son :

you mean the pigeon 'Old Yellow ' he won 4th wanstead flats , 1st Bourge 512 miles as a 2 year old only bird on the day in club , 2nd Bourge 512 miles as a Yearling he scored at 3 out of 4 channel races 2 years running then put to stock he won me the combined adverages 1st year and highest prize winner and the channel adverages year after ( i didnt send to one yb race ) or he would of done same again also was highest prize winner in club that year

'Old Yellow' my favourate pigeon , the best i have ever owned and raced

have seen it with young birds , sometimes you have to work out what went wrong , flying ybs with old hens after weaned the old birds know where home is and can take young squeakers that arent settled up and away and gone as struck up too soon , some just dont have the love of home or have the call of the wild or no brains either way i'd split pairings and try a different pairing

i once noticed a yb was looking a bit down and when i let him out he went straight to a hawthorn bush and started eating the berrys so i got my son to pick them and put them in a pot in loft needless to say they eat the lot , obviously the bird was getting what he needed at the time and what nature was providing , i have no idea at ivy berrys but if pigeons eating them then shouldnt do the birds any harm eating them

everything in moderation , any vitamins given to pigeons that they cant absorb through the normal process comes out the other end so excessive use will cost the fancier and will empty there pockets quicker

nar i bought from farm before the great price hike shame most of maple crops failed over my way i should of bought a pea mountain , next season i will

i have bought in a load in anticipation of the great European price hike they'll buy it sell it back to us mugs at a inflated price

i'd strongly disagree with not giving birds vitamins most feeds are lacking vitamins and can differ from crop to crop hence the need to supliment vitamins , now you say 'Blackberrys and Elderberrys in our case ' surely these contain vitamins ? birds forage in the wild and readly eat berry such as hawthorn and elderberys but when there in season and keep themselves right , rember our birds arent wild but still have the same dietry needs and we need to suply them , if not more so when we force there migratory instincts to race and the strain this has on them.

good god been watching news barely an inch of snow and motorways closed ectra , can rember 6ft snow drifts in 70's we still got about its amazing how backwards this countrys getting when we get a wee dusting of snow ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
