Firstly, strange as it may be to us, I noted during the summer, and then every day, that on the real hot days the birds drank less. Half the drinker. The following cooler days they drank more, nigh the whole drinker. Now these colder days and they are drinking less again. Back to half a drinker.

Onions. I, as you may know, place an onion in each compartment. As the weather gets warmer they darken quicker and get changed most days. I have cleaned out the nest bowls per usual and left them in the yard and elements. The cold weather is a bind.

Now I see, the colder the weather the longer it takes for the onions to collect the gems / viruses etc. and turn dark.

This of course is mainly due the coldness doing it's job.

Yes of course in the house they continue to turn darker and black very quickly. Obviously because the gems / viruses are more prevalent in the warmth.

I know the onion theory Roland, it is meant to attract all airborne viruses and kill them. It sounds quite a good idea to hang one up in each section of your loft. Maybe this is why you say you haven't had YBS before, we may have discovered the secret!!!!!

White or red onions ??

Good question. As the pigeon isn't coloured blind, the question doesn't arise ... So the cheapest lol.

Reds best for home made burgers :emoticon-0136-giggle: :emoticon-0136-giggle:

This may sound daft but do you peel the onions.

Or leave them with skins on.?

With a burger definitely better with the skins peeled off and sliced :emoticon-0136-giggle:

Well I just peel hang up. May take another cover off. Originally it was, and most likely better to slice.

So Big Dave on the side lol is this time MOST probably right.

Well done Big Dave :emoticon-0136-giggle: :emoticon-0136-giggle: :emoticon-0136-giggle:
