hotrod Posted July 19, 2016 Report Posted July 19, 2016 has any one ever had much success racing broken pigeons? if so what? What do you mean broken ? Is it birds bought in or just you moving loft? If it's the second I moved mines about 13 /14 years ago although at the start the birds would go to old place ( ok it was only about 100yrds away so I could see them going down ) maybe 3 or 4 races that year but they still won well ,winning fed old bird average to boot.

jbee Posted July 19, 2016 Report Posted July 19, 2016 Hi, I moved 10 miles east. Lost a lot settling, was not able to leave a loft/hut at old place and the cats killed them for fun. Started breaking them on their second nest in April 15'. Raced them all to coast and my old cock scored from Alencon 102nd Open SNFC.This year these same broken birds have taken,32nd Reims,22nd and 37th Open Ancencis with the SNFC.
Dmurray Posted July 19, 2016 Report Posted July 19, 2016 has any one ever had much success racing broken pigeons? if so what? Sent a 3 year old broken doo to Ypres this year that I got as a yearling from a friend who was packing in from cambuslang ,i timed her in all being it was the next morning but she's there to fight another day
blue pied Posted July 19, 2016 Author Report Posted July 19, 2016 last year a lad chris shaw had a sale at his club hut in bonnybridge and my 2 pals who fly in partnership bought a red hen that had flown the SNFC goldcup 3 times (2013,14,15) so they let her out to break her and flew back to the loft she was bought from. Anyway tam, (chris'sbrother) brought it through to me to give and the lad who bought the pigeon told me to keep it and pair it up to one of my pigeons. i bred off her and MAY came, i let her out, 2 days later she arrived back, let the cock out and in she came after some time. next day out again and she flew away but flew back and in that night. i let her out for about 10 days then gave her a toss at 41 miles. she sat out another night left her a day 41 miles again she was late at night gradually gettting quicker anyway she ended up getting 12 tosses and her first race was SNRPC Billericay where she timed at 9:42 at night. i gave her 1 toss at the ski slopes (single up) she took a hour and a bit then sent her to SNRPC Arras (2nd race of season) where she was 2nd club,4th fed,6th section 64th Open. I know its not a winning performance but i think ive been hard on this hen since may as she was locked in for half a year lol. Ps had a £10 nom at arras and she won £90 aswell lol. Hopefully can tell a better story next year haha
