PAPA B Posted November 24, 2015 Report Posted November 24, 2015 OK so one of my birds is very dominant he is chasing the other birds away from food, also fighting over his spot like really fighting and winning everytime. So is this normal, also what is the best thing to manage this.finally is this also a good sign of a confident bird that will try even harder to get home.

Uphill Lofts Posted November 25, 2015 Report Posted November 25, 2015 Its like life there is always a bully shoving the others about but it will meet its match ,as for being a good racer i dont know.I have had the odd one that`s bullied and claimed boxes causing disruption and been glad when they have fallen by way-side Strike me no brains more trouble than they are worth end up going to longest race to prove them selves. If come up trumps are forgiven.
Delboy Posted November 25, 2015 Report Posted November 25, 2015 Tie his legs together with an elastic band and put him on the floor or in the box where he is claiming. He cant fight without his feet apart for balance and will feel very vulnerable.. The ultimate disgrace will happen to him when he is bullied and raped by the other cocks. Most birds will be very submissive after this but you get the odd one who needs it done a couple of times. Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind. ps. Ive done this with very good racers , as long as you don't race them that week it shouldn't affect later performances.
ally mac Posted November 25, 2015 Report Posted November 25, 2015 I had one that was a nightmare in a section last year. Locked him in his box for a week and fed him there, seemed to settle down after that.

bullcock Posted November 25, 2015 Report Posted November 25, 2015 I would remove him from that section for a few days (lock his box up)and this time of year the feed should be a light mix lots of barley.
