Roland Posted November 13, 2015 Report Posted November 13, 2015 Tackled it again last night and managed 58 mins 44 seconds, just got to build up to run the whole 5K, and not stop for a stroll half way, shins still killing me. I thought you were going to do the 5K all in one go mate lol. Still over a week or so will be fine as far as I am concerned lol.
Guest paulrstokes Posted November 14, 2015 Report Posted November 14, 2015 another update, I was a bit disappointed with my progress, as I thought I was going very slow 58 mins for 5K, people saying "oh I ran that in 35" blah blah, so I asked at the gym, Duh the setting was on miles, so I have been tackling 5 miles NOT kilometres
Guest paulrstokes Posted November 14, 2015 Report Posted November 14, 2015 Tenner on its way via pay pal quite amazing how easy it is to make a donation ATB Paul great cause. Brilliant Many Thanks mate
Guest paulrstokes Posted November 20, 2015 Report Posted November 20, 2015 Just a quick update on progress, had a couple of days rest as Monday I did 5K and don't know what I did but certainly hurt my knees. so took a break Tuesday and Wednesday, back to the gym last night and did 5.2 miles a mix of walking and an attempt at jogging, knees still painful so will continue to ease back in
Roland Posted November 20, 2015 Report Posted November 20, 2015 Rest up ... walking only Paul. You will do the 6K easily now any way. Besides only you have a 'Pride' in time. We just a 'Pride' in you doing it... Whatever the time. You carry on training mate and you very well might not be able on the day. Then your pride will sting you. Take it from one you knows and coached and did the BM course etc. JMO All the best mucker.
Roland Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 How's it going. Had a rest I hope, now back with a little warm up. The most important thing about any Physical training is the warming up before hand.
Guest paulrstokes Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 Hey Roly Be honest mate I don't know what I did but my right knee is not right, however I am still walking around 5 miles per day, going to the gym tonight and just going to try a few minutes jogging to see how the knee reacts. Have ordered some rock tape and will get strapped up, the response has been absolutely amazing, and looks like it will be a decent sum raised, will let you have a sneak preview of the costume this weekend
Roland Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 Wouldn't be walking too much even Paul. I think, sorry to say, you are over doing it. Yes you will do the run etc. But a big price after you may well be heading for.
Ian McKay Posted December 7, 2015 Report Posted December 7, 2015 Hi Paul how did you get on with your run? Did you receive PB cheque?
Guest paulrstokes Posted December 7, 2015 Report Posted December 7, 2015 well guys and gals I did it, ran the whole 5K bar 10 yards or so, took me around 40 minutes, which I am happy with considering I knew my knees were going to be under great pressure. Although my shins are really painful when I put weight on them I know that will pass. Pleased to report that I have raised over £700 for a very worthwhile cause, if anyone has forgot to donate I will leave my just giving page open for now

Guest paulrstokes Posted December 15, 2015 Report Posted December 15, 2015 a few more bits and bobs that have been promised have filtered in, total now stands at £920. Amazed as never set out to get anywhere near that figure, would have patted myself on the back at £100
