all too well ,they collected them from the garden ,and returned them when empty .often seen carrying 2 at a time , yours and the neighbours. i dont think i saw a full dustbin back then.? ash from the fire ,egg-shells, a handfull of vegetable peelings and the occasional tin can.

all glass bottles were returned to scource or collected.all paper waste burnt on the fire.

compared to todays mountain of waste ,dustbin 4 times the size and still not large enough ,plus containers for this and that ,apart from putting it on the vehicle we do the job for them now. so thats progress eh ?? :emoticon-0138-thinking:

The majority of the peelings went to the rabbits, the eggs shells were put in the garden as well. the fire ash was occasionally used to top up the garden path. The tin cans were often used to play kick the can and occasionally football. :)
