What's available to the sprint man in Scotland

6 of the 11 races should be in the lanarkshire fed as it is those races that pay for the fed to go out further, and if the management put them self out, just a wee bit, we might then get some sponsorship from local firms of note in helping prize money not used on dead races.

your right mick

its diffo in scotland walter you get metorious awards and medals for sprintchampionship categories in england and ireland you dont get nowt up hear no money prize cards and somtimes no even a result at times. To be honest i dont think many even try much at the first races and the normal responce to the ones that do try is desperados lol inland nats almost a section b only result tbo you get the odd exception but not in any great numbers so its a non event in some areas

90 % of the fanciers in the west will waste there time and effort, at the distance but if they put in as much work and effort to make it something they could win, i would support such a cause, taking glory out of a section win means absolutely nothing when your wining position is or could be 120 th open or more.emoticon-0126-nerd.gif

As far as I am aware the only races available to the sprint man in Scotland are the early club races. After the first 5 to 8 races there is nothing for the sprint man. The exception being Ayrshire North Road Federation which has 11 Sprint races as its only programme.

On the continent and to a lesser extent in England there are lots of races at sprint distances. When they reach middle distance and long distance they still race sprint on the same week, possibly the previous day and as Rab says, they have Sprint Champions, etc.

I think Scotland has been geared to all round racing with the emphasis on distance racing. This has never really changed except some have introduced "sprint" pigeons to ensure they are competitive from start to finish. :)
