Chris Little Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 We are members of both the SHU & RPRA Both unions have strengths and weaknesses. However, the RPRA are better, cheaper fees, better service and better run
Guest youngzimmy Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 aye we need a berlin style wall tae keep yae oot yae ken
Williedoo Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 who, the best shu or rpra ? Ask Harry Hill.
WELSH WIZARD Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 has to be shu as rpra only look after number 1 themselves
naedoos Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 SHU for me as well, if I lived in Wales it would be the Welsh union. If I stayed in Ireland it would be the Irish union and if I stayed in England it would be the RPRA. Support your local union I say
hotrod Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 I THINK IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN A MEMBER OF THE TWO IT WOULD BE HARD TO SAY WHO IS BEST, but i have and would honestly say that the rpra have been brilliant . nothing is too much trouble , but agree that both have faults .
blaz Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 We are members of both the SHU & RPRA Both unions have strengths and weaknesses. However, the RPRA are better, cheaper fees, better service and better run i think this is the answer i was looking for someone who is in both and finds rpra better . i am in s.h.u but being a member of both for a year then stick with the one i find the best

Support your local union I say well naedoo's , support your union , what about your fed , they decide to go with the snrpc to wanstead flats and you cry wolf and jump ship to another fed, thats what we done years ago and got it in the neck for the same thing , we did not agree with the way the shu was going and left, so whats the difference ? :-/ after all its a free world (i think)

Our club had a meeting and the members agreed unanimously to take that particular race out of our club programme and make alternative arrangements that suit our members. At the meeting in question the fed members were told transportation would be with the Glasgow fedand it was only when asked directly it was disclosed that SNRPC would be involved. As you say each to their own as no one should be able to dictate to other folk what to do with their own doo's. We weren't happy with that particular decision so we should be entitled to make our own plans for that week, but as I stated we are not breaking away and starting another fed which is surely a bit different.
naedoos Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 apologies for going off topic, I was asked a question and felt I had the right to reply that's all!!!
JADE Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 both are adequate for the needs of their members. the shu are certainly more democratic as every member has the opportunity to vote at the agm. going by what i read in the press the rpra seems a bit out dated with too many regions for the decreasing number of members. the rpra fees may be less but so they should be with so many more members but i think i am right in saying they are losing money and the subs will probably have to rise substantially over the next few years. the shu have put a lot of work into raptor research and have made progress. whether it makes any difference remains to be seen!
Guest highmill boy Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 some members are in both, thats up to them ,i m born in scotland , i race in scotland, so its shu for me ;) 8) 8) everyone to there own
Guest Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 RPRA for me union dues £4.50 this year going to £8.00 next year first rise in a long time as far as i know free distances and i can have them in less than 10mins.for the whole club for as many races as i need and every time i contact there office they go out of there way to help no passing the buck or waiting weeks for something to be done yes i dare say they have problems as all unions do but i have never had any bother with them
Guest Davy Fleming Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 THIS TYPE OF DEBATE SHOULD NEVER BE ALLOWED ON THIS BRILLIANT SITE BECAUSE IT IS JUST STUPID AND AND WILL GET NO ONE NO WHERE AS THE LAD SAID EARLIER THERE ARE GOOD AND BAD ON BOTH SIDES BUT IT ALL NEEDS TO BE LAID TO REST AND LET EVERYONE ENJOY THERE HOBBY,
