I've been the secretary of my local club for the past 7 years and agree that there is a lot of hard work involved. The only concession I get is a reduced rate along with other committee members ie chairman, clocksetter etc which is £15.00.

hiya anto m8..how come the sec dont get paid?..surely he does a lot of work ?

ive been sec for over 5yrs and i wouldnt do it for free...not because i wouldnt get paid..its because you need an incentive to take some of the rubbish some of the members throw at you as sec,i did intend to resign b4 this year started but dull enough to stay on :)

i get £1.25 per member per week based on 20 club  members over 26 races = 2 weeks in spain at the end of year

Secretary fee in our club is nothing and he does a good job aswell, at our AGM I asked if we could afford a 20% rise it was passed unanimously and the sec bought everyone a drink.I think he was out of pocket.

Our club secretary does not get paid, and we have no trouble in pur club. I was fed secretary for 12 months!!! boy oh boy, got paid £600 for the year, The job itself is pretty straightforward once you know what your doing, but the amount of people that wanted to see me fall flat on my face. And the talk behind my back. i only did it because no 1, yes no 1 would do the job!!! and i got my arm twisted a bit into doing it. So people are very quick to critizise, BUT will they do the job themselvs? and do most of them do anyhing other than critize others. So i for 1 have the upmost respect for any official of any club.  :)

There are 30 members in my club and no one gets payed for doing a job.

This helps to keep the club fee low.

And you do a great job lucky to have such a good cheap Secretary

Cheers Willie
