Tony C Posted May 26, 2014 Report Posted May 26, 2014 young birds do this stu some times go ranging all day or there sitting hiding somewhere m8 but i would not let them out so early evening is better as they dont range so farTis a good policy especially on weekends when they could get mixed up with race birds and end up many miles away.
Stu3y Posted May 26, 2014 Author Report Posted May 26, 2014 so would you stick to late evenings for now?
philg50 Posted May 26, 2014 Report Posted May 26, 2014 Dont panic yet we all have this happen i think birds dissapear and most of the time return ,the young birds scout out their area to learn where they are .I have heard of birds ranging 10 mile out .
Stu3y Posted May 26, 2014 Author Report Posted May 26, 2014 young birds do this stu some times go ranging all day or there sitting hiding somewhere m8 but i would not let them out so early evening is better as they dont range so far will stick to evenings in future, 1 more has came back, the other 4 are not in sight at the min, i will just leave the trap open for now!do they eventually stay local to the loft? i see other fanciers birds just flying around their lofts, mine did this for a few days!
PIGEONPACKMAN Posted May 26, 2014 Report Posted May 26, 2014 will stick to evenings in future, 1 more has came back, the other 4 are not in sight at the min, i will just leave the trap open for now!do they eventually stay local to the loft? i see other fanciers birds just flying around their lofts, mine did this for a few days!Your doing well when they get older they are less likely to go as far but young birds should be off and out of site, this means your birds are healthy and happy
Stu3y Posted May 26, 2014 Author Report Posted May 26, 2014 will they not be picking bad habits up thinking its ok to go off and land on roofs and hide etc instead of coming back to the loft?
PIGEONPACKMAN Posted May 26, 2014 Report Posted May 26, 2014 Keep to regular feed times birds not back for feed time dont get feed till next feed time they will soon learn .
Stu3y Posted May 26, 2014 Author Report Posted May 26, 2014 usually get their evening feed about 6:30pm i guess they might be out until then still no sign
PIGEONPACKMAN Posted May 26, 2014 Report Posted May 26, 2014 Hope they come back for you mate l had this allot when l first started but some l got back the next day .
Stu3y Posted May 26, 2014 Author Report Posted May 26, 2014 still 2 missing, the rest are back in...... i dont feel very confident at the thought of letting them out tomorrow!
walterboswell59 Posted May 26, 2014 Report Posted May 26, 2014 5 wee ones missing myself to night stu might get them in the morning
THE FIFER Posted May 26, 2014 Report Posted May 26, 2014 keep them going m8, the know their area now,
frankdooman Posted May 26, 2014 Report Posted May 26, 2014 They will be sitting with the other birds they have to learn as long as they don't let them in there loft that's hard to break if they get a feed but sometime they don't know they are strangers but you should get them back in the morning keep them in for a few days get there confidence back in there own loft good luck
JADE Posted May 26, 2014 Report Posted May 26, 2014 I agree keep them in tomorrow at least and make sure they are hungry when you do let them out
