Dmurray Posted May 22, 2014 Report Posted May 22, 2014 A don't know if everyone's on the same boat but the last few weeks training my birds has went tits up for every good toss I get the next turns out a nitemare with at least 1 missing and or injured , at this rate my season will be over before it's really started . Also what's training young yins going to be like if I can't get experienced birds home from 20 mile . Are these hawks killing our sport quicker than anyone realises ??
Guest paulrstokes Posted May 22, 2014 Report Posted May 22, 2014 Hi Mate Simple answer is don't train. I gave mine three tosses from between 12 and 25 miles before the first race, which I won? two weeks after we had a cancelled week due to the weather so I took them on the Saturday. That is all mine have had. Out for an hour in the morning shut out, feed to appetite when they come in. Try it you may be surprised
Dmurray Posted May 22, 2014 Author Report Posted May 22, 2014 It's getting that way m8 but these birds am training are for going to France hopefully so I didn't want to send them to every race just to get them fit but the way training is going am going to need to send them to every race .
JohnQuinn Posted May 22, 2014 Report Posted May 22, 2014 A tossed 2 doos separately fae Andrew Suckles place yesterday Davie, the Ck never came home until after 6.30 fae a 3.30 toss. Was talking to a guy last night who watches doos come down the valley and he says they are voluntarily coming out of batches of 100+ in size to take cover just before they reach your place. Think that quarry pair are doing a helluva damage the now. Ps. They 2 were tossed as they missed the last 2 races having been injured, the rest of my doos don't get tossed after they have had a race cos i don't like losing them training. Club results suffer in the first half of the season but pick up the second half which is when i want them right. Though in saying that i was 2nd on Saturday fae 564 birds and 3rd the week before from 500+ birds so they're a wee bit ahead this year.

Aye a think it is thAt pair that's causing the damaged john once the birds are getten close to the area they head of there line of flight and over the east towArds tinto hill just to avoid them , a think am going to stop training and just send them to every race cause it's gutting when u train them and your losing good experienced birds from a 20 mile toss , that's all my race team had a race now so here's hoping they manage ok with out training
peter pandy Posted May 22, 2014 Report Posted May 22, 2014 My mate stopped training and has won every race since and 9 Fed tickets. When speaking to John Bosworth the other night he reiterated he does not train after the first race nor does the Padfield family.
dal2 Posted May 22, 2014 Report Posted May 22, 2014 Nah training very dangerous nut i squeeze a couple of 50 milers in late june

Or do they miss races and jump the birds ?
yeboah Posted May 22, 2014 Report Posted May 22, 2014 I have spotted a hen peregrine twice at the same location whilst driving north to glasgowAbout a good mile or so before you get to the larkhall junction and before the turbines there is a narrow strip of wooded area that splits the motorway Hunting right there

Guest bigda Posted May 22, 2014 Report Posted May 22, 2014 IF YOU LOOK OVER TO THE RIGHT OF WHERE YOU SEEN IT THERE IS A QUARRY HILL about 3 mile east of there, and the hen bop takes the doos straight out the sky there no problem at all.
