Guest Gareth Rankin Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 george the bbc club was a far better club than the five bird club I M ORemember my father being the secretary and at that point there were over seventy members entering their three pigeons, must have folded around 1983-84, perhaps someone a little older will inform us as to why it finished up.
Guest GAV Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 you are missing the pointDO LET ME KNOW THE POINT IM MISSING ?
geordie1234 Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 Pity ye couldn't get yer fed to run the transporter to Otterburn every mid-week, it would probably save them money by not going twice a week to Elvanfoot. It would be good
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 thanks tam at least your honest about it m8 as most times it ends in disaster when you risk birds with little training or are unfit i would not advise anyone to risk there birds this way as they will pay the price and its no way to build a team imowell I did say it turned out lucky and also said I would never do it again but the birds were fit and it is not a long race from Kelso with a south wind but it was stupid after I thought about it and if I had not been moving south I would never have contemplated doing it
Delboy Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 I had a yearling cock that was unraced as a yb, it only had 1 training toss I believe but as a yearling flew every race in the programme except the comeback race. All the races were north winds that year except Worcester and he won 10th Open West Coast Combine from Cheltenham, 291 mls, north wind, 15th Open W.C.C Salisbury 351 mls north wind. I put him by for the year but the weekend before Sartilly Combine I spotted the form he was in, Ralston Graham singled him up from Langholm 60 mls, on the Saturday for me. I sent him to Sartilly 510 mls,on the Tuesday full pools and timed him at 9.15pm in a north east wind to win 1st club, 1st fed, 1st W.C.C , only 4 timed on the day and he was flying 30 miles further than 2 of them. This yearling flew over 2000 miles in its first ever season, and mostly into head winds. They've either got it or they haven't, trained or not!!!!
