Guest chad3646 Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 I Just joined a club for the very first time and quite franky im getting disillusioned by all the bickering, jealousy, in this great sport, we all love racing pigeons, and should be concentrating, on more inportant matters, such as bop, losses ect do your own thing, we all learn by mistakes, if you need help ask, as for pigeon men and women every single 1 of us have our own secrets that we think work better,i.e training, feeding, STOP living in the past, help promote the sport, get young people interested, there,s to many grumpy old men set in thier ways in pigeon racing, no wonder its dying, GET a grip, rant over. those grumpy old men as you say paved the way so use can all sit on your erses and watch your E T S
walterboswell59 Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 gareth you said i was being disrespectfull to the great flyers that dont train m8 i dont know any great flyers that dont train and any time there seen they have a basket in there car they must just be taking the baskets for a run eh i said 5 tosses are not enough for latebreds or youngbirds so i can only take it you think it is and inferd that they need to take a look at there stock and who said anything about hammering them down the road you did not i and if you are saying your dad did not believe in hard training he was at coldstream and kelso with the midweek club as i remember and anyone ive spoken to said he trained hard to but i stand corrected if you say he did not as for most members not being able to train there latebreds or youngbirds 20 to 30 12 to 20 mile tosses that may be be true of a few but many fanciers i know would rather spend 20 pound in the pub talking about what there going to do than putting 20 pounds of petrol in there car and trying to get there birds right imo if your trying to bring a young team of birds through you have to educate them so when they make a mistake they can work out how to correct it yes in the nice easy races you will get most home home but soon as they get a sticky one its a different ball game i try to be honest and tell the guys what works so they will not lose as many birds no ones trying to score points here just trying to tell the guys that are losing there latebreds why and how to fix it have good year gareth m8
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 if you are saying your dad did not believe in hard training he was at coldstream and kelso with the midweek club as i remember and anyone ive spoken to said he trained hard to but i stand corrected gareth m8 Thanks for correcting yourself Walter, i.e. telling porkies. Doos we sent to Coldstream and Kelso were Widowhood cocks (5 in total) for a race in the midweek Five bird club as that was the limit. A great club until the training enthusiast took over and stopped the racing side of which the club was set up for and now used only for training.

Guest Gareth Rankin Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 Why did it stop? Basically George there were some fanciers more competitive than others. Also the training enthusiast liberated training pigeons half way to the race-point out of the same trailer which the race pigeons were in (different tier off course). Unsure of how much of a demand there is to get it back up and running.

peter pandy Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 FOR EVERY ""ACTION"" THERE IS A ""REACTION"".... My ""ACTION"" was stating I dropped 7 L/B which is now 5.. The ""REACTION"" was in the replies that I had not trained sufficiently which has started a little debate rearding fitness and health etc, etc, so I will sumarise my experience gained over the years. My birds are never confined over the winter and are out flying 2-3 hours daily requiring usually 2 tosses prior to racing from 25 and 38 miles. I expect to drop 2 thirds of young birds and late breds racing in their first couple of races not due to fitness but their lack of homing ability.. As any readers of my posts will recall my mentor was Eddy Newcombe who never trained young birds and were all entered into his first young bird race [ many losses incurred ] likewise with old birds. Training was only when he was preparing for Nationals where they were tossed from 100 miles 1 week prior to basketing. His philosophy was to find them out as quickly as possible and remove from his colony those who could not make it home and think for themselves without being shown every lamp post to the race point. I don't wish you guys to fall out with each other rather the opposite.
