PATTY BHOY Posted April 16, 2014 Report Posted April 16, 2014 With the racing starting this weekend for most of us. Do the members think their birds are fit yet or maybe just a little short yet.
gulkie Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 I believe that it's the same as footballers there's fitness and there's match fitness ,I think you need at least Half a dozen short tosses for the first race after that as racing progresses twice a week up to 200 miles Then after that it long tosses .OMO.
walterboswell59 Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 my latebreds have had 33 tosses this year if i go today with them so ive done my bit a wee bit of kidding tomorrow then its up to them i would never send unfit birds to a race i think to much of my birds good luck to you all guys

Delboy Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 Its funny nowadays how distance fanciers hold their obs back til about the 3rd race thinking they will come on slower. I don't think this works as well as everyone thinks. In the earlier days we used to send them all to the first 3 races to get fitness on them then pick any race after that before their main event. Im sending ALL my hens tomorrow so im not playing catch up with them when they are eggy etc.
