johnwatters Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 What are people's opinions on this grain for rearing?i use 50% country wide premier gold & 50% no1 racing mix
Wiley Posted January 25, 2014 Author Report Posted January 25, 2014 Hi john but what is your opinion on Versa Laga Start Plus IC?
johnwatters Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 Hi john but what is your opinion on Versa Laga Start Plus IC?in my opinon versa laga mixtures are to light a feeding for rearing young birds I all use a mixture with heavy percentage of tic beans but maybe am wrong
MIK Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 in my opinon versa laga mixtures are to light a feeding for rearing young birds I all use a mixture with heavy percentage of tic beans but maybe am wrong versa laga Irish mixture a great feed for breeding ...not all are too light Mick
paddymac Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 versa laga Irish mixture a great feed for breeding ...not all are too light MickDefinately a good mix MIK but a little bit pricey @ £18.00 a bag. Beatties breeding supreme is a good mix and £4:00 cheaper. Ryan, personally I don't use the Versa Laga IC mix for breeding as already said its very light for a breeding mix for me although their IC racing mixes are great for racing up to 300mls especially with the widowers
alex young Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 Used it for a few seasons now without problems,it keeps the old birds in good nick whilst rearing.I do add a pot of peas once the y/birds start coming out of the nest bowls because they will be weaned on peas.We only pay £14-30 for it.
walterboswell59 Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 think if you put a pot of beans or peas in the box when yb hatch it does not matter what your feeding use to be you wanted at least 18 to 20 percent protein for breeding in a mix but if you give them the protein high feed beans or peas in the box it should not matter what your mix is my best tip for rearing healthy yb is plenty kilpatricks black minrals tried others but thay crave for the kilpatrick stuff if its the salt there after as some say they have the balance just right imo
WulDon Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 use it myself, but is a bit light... for rearing I mix with breed & wean, 50/50
demolition man Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 Ryan Liege Special is a good food to add to your breeding mix to add bit more protein.
Wiley Posted January 26, 2014 Author Report Posted January 26, 2014 Bern, I've always liked liege mixes, but £17 turned me off, Bamfords Wizard Heavy is excellent and a good cheaper alternative to liege but with Joes shop closing, bamfords is hard to get over and I'm not a fan of manor farms. As most know I like to feed 3-4 different brand mixes to my breeders whilst rearing, but found the start plus quiet light but with plenty of variety, I liked the variety but for myself personally I like more beef in it for rearing

dwh Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 What about a bit of farm food maples mixed in little bit of oil add that to your mix you wouldn't know the differenceGOTTA AGREE DEMO MOST BREEDING MIXES ARE A LOT LIGHTER MAPLES OR BEANS JUST THE JOB
Wiley Posted January 26, 2014 Author Report Posted January 26, 2014 What about a bit of farm food maples mixed in little bit of oil add that to your mix you wouldn't know the difference I've also will be using Bucktons High protein economy, and Countrywide No.1(Beans peas and Tares), so I've got something to bolster it up in the other feeds during the day, like I said it's got a huge variety maybe the pellets in it offer something different compared to the other mixes?
seabreeze Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 probably the best breeding mix ive saw in many years ,bought a bag this week and i wont be adding any thing to it,what for, this is a proven mix made by one of the best feeding companys in the world, and probably a decent price at 14 quid a bag with the extra free, not like that local rubbish with dryed up wheat etc at the same price.
