walterboswell59 Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 after a night togethere i give them a day with the hens locked in the box to get the cocks used to flying up and into there box next day the boxes are opened and let them get on with it dont think theres an easy way yellow some years better than others ive tried to pair one of my best racing hens to one of my best stock cocks for three years and the hen just does not like him and i end up pairing her to another cock not even going to try with her this year as she has taken a shine to my ypres winner and hes a grandson of my vale barcelona stock cock and she is a daughter off the vale cock so a good pairing heres hopeing ah the joys lol Thats a good 1st round Walter, hopefully a few champions amongst them il settle for one pat lol

Walter swanston Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 I am probably not doing this right but spent yesterday and today out in that loft trying to fix the boxes and medicate the birds prior to pairing up my hands were about dropping aff me with the cauld very tempted to wait till it's warmer guess I ain't dedicated enough this game is supposed to be fun.

OLDYELLOW Posted January 24, 2014 Author Report Posted January 24, 2014 cleaned stock birds out and fed all of them about an hour ago and let them roost looks like only one or two pairs aint gone back to there boxes was going to lock them back again , but decided to leave them be hopefully they will have all settled to there own boxes by tomorrow , put new clean bowls in and locked them away tomorrow will open the boxes up and start placing straw in loft for them to build nests with

OLDYELLOW Posted January 25, 2014 Author Report Posted January 25, 2014 More deep cleaning of loft today stock was completed yesterday , Race team will be done today just checked to see if had straw and have , so can have me cuppa and crack on with loft before hitting the shops later on Am hoping to have whole loft done today and start taking the V perches down tomorrow for there wash whilst unoccupied by the hens Then once that's done shall commence on decorating the house and completing it before the start of racing yippee this will make time fly Should finish house and be on with cutting grass and training in no time , bring it on am ready for a fun season

Lennut Tar Posted February 20, 2014 Report Posted February 20, 2014 Have not paired up ,birds never seperated they are pairing up and i am just removing the eggs ,they have been left to pick their own mate .I think i will be opening the boxes this week trying to hold of for as long as i could but i think i am as keen to get going as they are.Some i can see have chosen what i think are good mates ,but we will see. Interesting Phil I just hope etc you have much more luck with your breeding type of thing. Than your been having with the "Independance issue" on that other chat site, down south at this moment.Enjoy.
