Going back to Wilson Noble's Black Rocket I think that pigeon was clocked on another occasion from the channel 17 hour on the wing, believe it may have been their fed Avaranches race. ?

Came across this in 1980 BHW stud book from an advert placed by Wilson Noble -" Black Rocket - 1976 - 1st club, 1st fed, only bird on day. 1st North Sec, 11th open SNFC Rennes, 663 miles, 7953 birds, clocked on day 17 hours 40 minutes on wing.

In 1975 Black Rocket - 1st Champ Club, 2nd FIFC, 9th fed Avranches, 624 miles, 17 hour 25 minutes flying time "

Does not state if the 1975 performance was flown on the day, but nevertheless an outstanding hen.

Here is a little bit of info from a wee 8 page pamphlet I’ve come across entitled ‘How To Race My Strain And Win’ by Wilson Noble-British and European Long Distance Record Holder

"My foundation pigeons from which I created this strain are my champions: Black Rocket, 1st Fed. Only bird on the day, 1st North Sect, 11th open Rennes. 663miles - 17hours 40 minutes on wing, also 1st CC,2nd IFC, 9th Fed Avanches, 624 miles17 hours 25 mins flying time; Violet Eyes, 1st Palamos into Scotland 1113miles; Producer, the brilliant stock cock, and the fantastic Steptoe Hen.

My main distance performances connected to my four foundation pigeons are: Sir Lancelot, 1st Scotland from Rome, 1260mls. British and European Long Distance record holder. A grandson of Steptoe Hen and Black Rocket, a great grandson of Producer and Steptoe Hen.

Young Violet, 1st Perpignan into Scotland,1058 miles

Perfection, 1st Palamos into Scotland,1113 miles."

There are many more perfromances, but I’m done typing for now :emoticon-0136-giggle:

As far as I'm aware Alan Raeside's 'Conquerer' is still the 1000 mile record holder.Wilson Noble's record performance was from Rome.

Here is another 1000 miler-Wellbank Endurance

Initially thought it was Eddie Newcombe's hen Delorna, but he never used nest pans. Will go for Fear Brothers hen, can't remember her name but it starts with H ????

I maybe went a bit over the score with this one :emoticon-0136-giggle:

It's Napper and Lane's 'Combine Cock' he had a string of UNC positions as long as you arm and was a grandson of their 'Cotton Reeler' 11th UNC Bourges(562 miles) and 17th UNC Nantes (530 miles) on one side and his dam was an inbred granddaughter to the Rutter Bros '£1000 Hen' 4th,7th,9th,9th,11th,16th UNC-6 times a Bourges winner. These are the doos !! :emoticon-0137-clapping:
