shweet Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 Obviously in someones stock loft. They liked the look of it when it came into there loft and so through it into the stock loft. After 3 years of not producing anything anygood off it ir choosing to keep the better birds un the loft have threw it out and its come home. I remember a bloke telling me a similar story years ago. A bloke had a 10 year old come in, it was in fantastic condition and he reported it and it turned out to be his neighbours bird, he checked his records and he had lost it nine years previous. It had ibviously been in someones stock loft and had stopped filling his eggs

Roland Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 Like the war pigeon whose lofts were built by planks with the bark still on. These were moved around on wheels ... the pigeons still found them and delivered their messages. Like the ships whose pigeons boxes were attached to the funnels ... still found. Best of all it was known that they would do too.
Delboy Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 I had a hen reported about 4 years ago. On checking the book I saw it was off my no1 pair, responsible for stacks of SNFC prize winners.I contacted the guy and said i'd send for it as I had lost it off the loft as a yb 3 years previous and it was off a good pair of mine. To my surprise, the fella offered me £300 for it.I wondered why he did this but assumed the hen had bred him some decent offspring and he obviously thought that I would've said keep it as it had been away so long.I declined the offer and got the hen back. Shes a cracker and has turned out one of my best breeders :emoticon-0140-rofl:
