In reply to a post of mine a couple of weeks ago you said "4 bean tins of easibed will sort the problem" well 4 bean tins of easibed widnae make my grandsons hamster comfortable, and 3 years you,ve had the doos, well thats no even long enoough to wear out a scraper. As I said read the Veterinarian report, or if thats too difficult get someone to read it to you.

Bobby I never said the doos in wicker baskets were no cared for properly I simply said that the geraldies IMO were better you have your opinion you have yours I never directly reply to your comments and say your talking sht about wicker baskets but you and your cronie transporter do to me which shows a distinct lack of intelligence.

This is the last I will speak on the matter because you cannot argue with idiot's

When we get 15 accepted like all major organisations ,I will certainly not be looking for 10 or 1per basket what a statement having spoken to a highly respected convoyer he stated that some birds never get to the water with 20per basket other organisations have figured that one out

I will be putting a proposal in writing for the Agm and will then take the outcome from there far to many people talking about overcrowding time that it was addressed

I will care and tend for more stray birds than most and would never ever have 20 in a crate for 3-4 days let alone expect them to then fly hundreds of miles

your claim....Quote..having spoken to a highly respected convoyer...."he stated that some birds never get to the water with 20 birds per basket" I would raise this question is this in his report....if not why not ? if it is then let the fanciers read this report and then crucify the powers that ignored this vital part of the convoyers report.

Long may the SNFC continue with wicker baskets they have stood the test of time, far superior to aluminium crates.jmo

I remember you were strongly against the ETS as well and now you've got it. You also urged and pushed South Lanarkshire to get Geraldy transporters. You are flying with Lanarkshire now in Geraldys, I don't think you know what ye want. Leave the younger generation to take over and get some credibility back. The old brigade of toullettes and tic beans should sit back and enjoy. :emoticon-0140-rofl::emoticon-0167-beer:

Gearge there is nobody hates Lanarshire, or for that matter any other federation but there is no evidence to say that Geraldie type crates and transporters are any better than the ones we have always used. If you read the veterinary report into the Maidstone race you may find that the vet was full of praise about the condition of the birds the ventilation of the transporter and also the comfort afforded to the birds, I wonder what he would say if he say the pools of droppings on the cardboard prior to the Lanarkshire liberation that is on you-tube. Maybe George when you have a few years experience with the pigeons, then you will be qualified to make a comparison. Tell you what after 7 days standing in sh** with nothing to dry it up your birds will not be in a fit state to fly 50 mls never mind 500 and dont hit me with 4 bean tins of easibed will sort it cos it wont, the birds need and deserve a 2 inch layer of shavings so they can lie down and rest.

that's WRONG Bobby, yer secretary despises Lanarkshire :emoticon-0127-lipssealed:

My secretary Derek, I dont have one, also dont have an agenda as to who transports my birds what I do have is an opinion and that is that my birds are more comfortable in wicker and shavings. Why have none of you commented on the Vets report because I know you have all read it, is it because it pours cold water on to your Geraldies are better. I well remember seeing the MNFC transporter at Blackpool and thinking this is the bees knees, but that was a real Geraldy, water on Three sides and grills in every basket the ones that the Lanarkshire have I believe only water on the back same as a basket and no grills just standing on cardboard, well Im afraid thats not my idea of progress Derek. So come on what your take on the Vets report?

Get your facts right Derek I did not push for SL to go for Geraldy transport that was entirely the members decision at the AGM the president made that very clear at the time.

Vets report from Maidstone, i wouldn't have expected any other comment but that...pmsl, its amazing what you can get someone to say when prompted in the right direction, don't forget who was at Maidstone with the vet, yes someone collecting a wage...lol.. had a right good laugh at that part.

Regards to water on 3 sides ! let me assure you Bobby, if Lanarkshire wanted water on 3 sides then we would have got that, the reason we didn't was down to the fact that we spoke to the organisations that got drinkers on the 3 sides, their input was that they don't use them because their not needed, perhaps this maybe down to the length of the water trough available to the pigeons at the back of the crate.

MNFC don't have drinkers on 3 sides, perhaps you refer to the non Geraldy, NFC transporter, which they put 28 pigeons to a crate across the channel.

First thing my experience pigeons do when they go into the Geraldy crate with easibed, YES, they lie down just like yours in the shavings.

You've got to much time on your hands when your posting comments, when you really have no experience of both types. ;) ;) ;)

And I,m having a right old laugh at the last post as well, cos when the MNFC got there first Geraldy they had it sitting on the Prom in Blackpool in January for anyone to go look at and it did have three sides with water and also grills to keep the burds away from the droppings. As for the vet report, Im sure Rab was standing with a gun to his head telling him what to write, maybe he d be interested to read your post and get his take on that. End of the day everyone has their opinions and ideas, but as I,ve said before, wont be my problem next year and if whatever the new committee decides doesnt suit then I,ll do as I always do and keep them at home

IB Spot on with this

That penny dropped with me this year and mine have had Friday to Monday in the basket as part of their training.

Me too had a bad one with Maidston holdover and it set me thinking.

Have been examining or monitoring while in basket and have come to the conclusion not enough time is spent on this basket training on both eating and drinking.

Would like to here how other train there birds, and over what kind of time they do this.

When it comes to spotting a pigeons in a basket that's not well, answer is YES, how many pigeons did the vet take out to examine closely ??

have to correct you on that point Gareth the MNFC crates do have drinkers on 3 sides, one of our close friends is very high up on the committee and he has told us many times about the drinkers being on 3 sides so that is factual.

If you mean by instrumental yes I was the secretary of the F ed. and had the job of finding out all the details and organising the building of all South Lanarkshire Fed. Transporters and I think I am well qualified to make a judgment and as I have already said I prefer wicker baskets ina a transporter with a corridor. By the way the the decision to go for the Geraldy was not recomended to the members they were told the decision was ENTIRELY theirs.
