airdrie2 Posted July 11, 2013 Report Posted July 11, 2013 george we had 32 to a basket one week mate because they were short of baskets then old shearer asked for 26 birds to a basket the following week complaining there were to many birds to a basketdiffrent between a race and training jamie but remember some of the doos could be in basket training for 3 to 4 hrs first pick up to release this heat and there will be no water in transporter during training
geordie1234 Posted July 11, 2013 Report Posted July 11, 2013 Aye but we are no racing this is just training for a couple of hours

peter2010 Posted July 11, 2013 Report Posted July 11, 2013 Are you a geography teacher homer the quicker the schools go back the better
Guest chad3646 Posted July 11, 2013 Report Posted July 11, 2013 Aye but we are no racing this is just training for a couple of hours use are aye on about this great transporter now you are wanting to put 50 pigeons in a basket as the gentleman said some could be in there for 4 hours or more especially in this heat and no water think about it
HOMER49 Posted July 11, 2013 Report Posted July 11, 2013 keep them right homer lol Hi I don't have the answers when I first started in 1960the program was Annan, Penrith, Shap, Lancaster, Prestonreturns where good but during the 1980s they were gettingdismel and a switch to the east route seemed the answerand it was. Have to say that 2013 racing the east route has been a disappointing year for me lost a lot of birds I blame our controller for Leicester in which I did not get 50%returns but apart from that not good returns at allThere comes a point when you have to say is all this worththe effort CheersHomer 49
Delboy Posted July 11, 2013 Report Posted July 11, 2013 50 doos in a crate expletive remove, that's like 6 folk in a phone box. No matter how long they are in it, expletive remove, its completely wrong and would stress your ybs to fek.
geordie1234 Posted July 11, 2013 Report Posted July 11, 2013 As alan says he knows a guy who does it with an old wicker basket with no probs...Regardless of what amount goes in a basket I will go with the fed and myself
Guest bigda Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 what numpty has proposed training from Crawford , as young birds kick of at otterburn yet when we kicked of at otterburn with the old birds we went to places that suited the line of flight, that being meldrum or pebbles , now we are jumping over 7 valleys away from the line of flight, and to add on the days of training and RACING, it CAN BE PREDOMINATELY WEST IN THE WIND I COULD SEE THE POINT IF WE RACED FROM LONGTOWN LOCKERBIE CRAWFORD WOULD BE THE PLACE TO GO, some people just open there gub and let there belly rumble, is this training giving some the idea it will suit larkhall, can any one on here see birds heading up the M 74 from otterburn , the trucks coming from the races would not even come home that way

Guest bigda Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 more like 4 elephants in a mini Del just shows ye 2 miserable tae buy another basket training should be subsidized from the lanarkshire accounts, we have no need to go with any other mob again, if we cant stand on our own two feet, we should call it a day, we are a non profit making organization. and it should be explained that if we cover our costs, then that should be all that we should be banking. a few sales will pick up the slack this year, i reckon we should have made over 20k profit this year this needs to be thinned out so as the members get a we bit back from the racing they have supported. there is cases of guys buying baskets yet it is frowned appon if you tried to buy it on a race day in our club

Guest bigda Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 REMEMBER WE HAD 32 BIRDS TO A CRATE IN ONE OF THE OLD BIRD RACES JAMIE what club had 32 birds in a basket, and what race was this can you confirm this happend
Guest stb- Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 what numpty has proposed training from Crawford , as young birds kick of at otterburn yet when we kicked of at otterburn with the old birds we went to places that suited the line of flight, that being meldrum or pebbles , now we are jumping over 7 valleys away from the line of flight, and to add on the days of training and RACING, it CAN BE PREDOMINATELY WEST IN THE WIND I COULD SEE THE POINT IF WE RACED FROM LONGTOWN LOCKERBIE CRAWFORD WOULD BE THE PLACE TO GO, some people just open there gub and let there belly rumble, is this training giving some the idea it will suit larkhall, can any one on here see birds heading up the M 74 from otterburn , the trucks coming from the races would not even come home that way Will agree way ye on this one , seems a funny place to train from when the start is from otterburn and appleby shurly the doos will not cut 30 to 40 miles acroos country from otteburn to come up the 74 valley , this would have them over moffat and as mick currie said youd need your head looked to have your birds comming through there

TheHigg Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 Are you a geography teacher homer the quicker the schools go back the better YOU ARE AN AWFY CHEEKY BHOY BOB
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 Many can we put in a crate?Realistic number is 35 for a short toss.
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 Hi GarethNo tossing up the east ??CheersHomer 49sorry Alex but only one route, considered mixing it up, but then the vehicle could be going down the road half empty each day for training. Also it's more cost effective going to Crawford than in it is to go to Elsrickle / Meldons.
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 Too expensive for me Gareth.... No way could i afford £8 a toss mate I've supported the fed most of the old bird season training but i'm afraid that's me out...To have two crates which can carry 70 doos in total is not expensive for 8.00, remember 2.00 of this goes to the man in charge of each collecting club, now if you could organise your club and reimburse the 2.00 back each fancier then training becomes more affordable, don't forget that the price of the second crate has been dropped down by 2.00 from 10.00 to 8.00 since the old bird season, so we are trying to accommodate all the Lanarkshire member's, yes there is cheaper training clubs around, but do you get a crate to yourself which helps stopping cross contamination, especially with Paramaxy kicking around.(NO)
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 30 GEORGEHi CharlieAll races were 28 doos to a crate, except for the second Otterburn were clubs were asked to put 30 hens in the crate.CheersGareth if there training out of there will the ybs be racing from the west this yearAll racepoints are still South East of Lanarkshire.
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 george we had 32 to a basket one week mate because they were short of baskets then old shearer asked for 26 birds to a basket the following week complaining there were to many birds to a basketAt no time should there have been 32 in a crate.
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 I hope I have corrected, clarified and answered your points within this thread, of course there is the exception where it doesnt warrant an answer. No doubt training from Crawford will give us one or two tricky ones at some point (due to the BOP) but overall I'm hopeful that in General training will be as good as it was from the meldons earlier this year. Will inform later today what day it will be starting.
geordie1234 Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 No matter where we train we will be dived on it is purely our luck. Wish every single member the very best for the coming young birds season all the best guys
