Previous discussion on forum, concensus was 3 days. I prefer her to lay her 2nd on the Tuesday for Friday basketing.

Well, in reality I'd say wait for the nearest to 14 days. When at nigh her best. Then 14 days after when at her best. Can't really see, unless for race / fitness reasons sending otherwise. JMO

That depends on the hen Dave, my Dad had a hen that flew really well having just laid her 2nd egg, inc. with the national at 500ml. Knowing this I have done the same with mine and it has worked well with one in particular, even waiting on her to lay before heading off to club, pooled and nominated her, and it paid off on a couple of occasions before I stopped her for breeding with.

However most of the others preferred to be sitting a few days longer, suppose if you dont try you wont know?!

The late great Andrew Deans once said to me that a hen due to lay should be off the road for 6 days. 2 days before laying, 2 days actually laying and 2 days afterwords, i kinda stick to that. Though i can't remember a single occasion when i won with them so soon after laying, 5/6 days after laying has served me MUCH better over the years.
