Guest stb- Posted March 15, 2013 Report Posted March 15, 2013 Jim, its a transporter we are talking about. It doesnt make the doos better. You can have good doos in a wicker basket and bad doos in a Geraldy crate. The type of transporter wont change that. The same way they are watered Rab. ????????????????? we had the AGM LOLdoes that mean the birds at the trough get fed and the ones behind dont as they all wont get to the feeding at the same time if thats the case , first in will eat what they want and the ones at back only get whats left . I know scattering feeding in from the top of the basket onto shaving is not the most hygenic but the birds get an even chance at the feed that way , if you have 30 birds in a basket some will never get near a trough to feed i wouldnt think
Delboy Posted March 15, 2013 Author Report Posted March 15, 2013 del must just have been ma doos that were coming home choking for a drinkafterbeing in baskets for a day or two lol, Wattie.

lanarkshire lad Posted March 15, 2013 Report Posted March 15, 2013 My concern is the the welfare of the pigeons first and foremost whether they are travelling with carboard or shavings as long as they are in as hygienic conditions as possible and free from matted feet or manky tails and flights.
Delboy Posted March 15, 2013 Author Report Posted March 15, 2013 Rab,im not sure how its done, feed first for hour then watered probably. The birds at the back ( if 28 in crate ) would get plenty of chance to feed in an hour im sure.

Apart from that i think the actual geraldy tranporter is better

High time ye stopped sending doos like that then, Only kiddin Jim.
Delboy Posted March 15, 2013 Author Report Posted March 15, 2013 as hotrod posted earlier now and then you get them home with caked feet but i just feel this is with the droppings accumulating on the cardboard and not being dispersed and brocken up like it is in shavings . Apart from that i think the actual geraldy tranporter is better As I said earlier Rab, the LF transporters will/can have shavings in them as they have a special bar in them to stop shavings going into the drinkers. Ive never had the birds come home with dirty feet m8.

Guest stb- Posted March 15, 2013 Report Posted March 15, 2013 (edited) As I said earlier Rab, the LF transporters will/can have shavings in them as they have a special bar in them to stop shavings going into the drinkers. Ive never had the birds come home with dirty feet m8.not had it often myself either del but if you left your own birds in the baskett for 2 or 3 days on cardboard they would get matted feet aswell you know , but as you said double or treble card paper should help Edited March 15, 2013 by stb-
Guest bigda Posted March 15, 2013 Report Posted March 15, 2013 i think hemp core or such like would be best to use the birds can rest up on it if left to stand all the time the birds suffer more and stress levels rise you get a dominating doo want to claim the crates it will chase every bird around and around all day as they are all standing , your own birds lie in the shavings when you take them to the club i also witnessed a not so nice thing to happen when the cardboard bottomon a geraldy basket flipped up and 6 doos got stuck underneath it so there you go why it happened i dont know but what i do know it did happen
Delboy Posted March 15, 2013 Author Report Posted March 15, 2013 one step at a time del, let the member decide at the agm 1st. Davy, it was decided at the AGM that the transportation was put out to tender. It was not stipulated it should be any particular type of transporter so I hope the SNFC committee dont even attempt to try and twist this decision ???? Nah, this cant happen, expletive remove I can hear the uproar as we speak
walterboswell59 Posted March 15, 2013 Report Posted March 15, 2013 guys sending eggy hens dont help think it would be even worse on cardboard
