I think a £15 -£20 first bid is the norm for openers now adays... or not sold. Think it is about £35 is fair average. Some £20-£25. Others over a hundred depending on wh's and who is in the room and wants them. Some buy them as protential stock and lghtly race them of course etc.

Have run a few b/buyer sales and more times than not have found the early lots go a tad cheaper than the rest ;)

scott -on the first of april, Bob Pinkerton runs a charity sale for childrens ward at hospital-all birds are donated free and are sold off for this great cause-penning 11.00 check your BHW for time the sale starts and venue -think it will be winlaton halgarth--you should be able to buy birds at 10 quid.

HOPE ADMIN DONT REMOVE THIS POST---ONLY LETTING THIS YOUNG FANCIER KNOW WHERE A CHARITY SALE WILL BE HELD.
