There is lots of evidence that they were here a long time ago as you say a native species. Not 100% sure on this but heard that peregrines were introduced to these shores by the Romans.

Guest Owen Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 The RSPB Clowns accept that it is alright to bring Goshawks from Sweden, Cranes from somewhere, White Tailed Eagles from goodness knows where and anything else they happen to think will be a Flagship Species to give them publicity. They even think it is fine to feed the White Tailed Eagles on carcases and Kites on artificial carrion but they really do not want Eagle Owls. They have told me that they think it is OK if peregrines have access to artificial feeding due to the abundance of feral pigeons and racing pigeons. And they are happy that the Magpie populations are inflated from road kill which leads to unfair pressure on the small Song Birds when their nests and young are taken. I was interested in Packham's remarks on Urban Foxes this week. He claims that if they were to be culled they would quickly recover their numbers again. Perhaps the people who cull them in the big Cities and Towns use peashooters because when I have shot them they tend to stay dead. I have no idea why anybody wants disease ridden filthy foxes around their houses and gardens because I know that I would not. I think that the problem we have is that the RSPB are unelected people that do not have to answer to us the Public in anything they do. Add to that the fact that they have an abundance of money and we have a really big problem with the arrogant idiots that are attracted to something like their organisation. They have no fear of redundancy and have a wonderful time at our expense.
geordie1234 Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 The RSPB used to really get on my nerves until I accepted that they are bigger stronger and have have ten times the money atleast us fancier will never beat them they have an incredible marketig machine that just churns money out. Once the peregrine gets over populated and there is no other birds in the sky then something may be done about it.
ghostrider Posted February 13, 2013 Author Report Posted February 13, 2013 going of the topic, about the eagleowlthe RUDDY DUCK,a harmless little thing, used to enjoy watching them, when i was on the hunt for big carp up and down the country.a little diving duck with what looks like a blue plastic beak, about died of laughter the first time i spotted one Thought it was a windup, and when mating the cockbird about shakes itself to death anyways our ruddys were going over the channel to france, and mating with the french ruddyswhich were different, the french complained..guess what...they started culling our ruddys off!!that was a few years back, bet there all extinct now over here
Novice Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 The RSPB used to really get on my nerves until I accepted that they are bigger stronger and have have ten times the money atleast us fancier will never beat them they have an incredible marketig machine that just churns money out. Once the peregrine gets over populated and there is no other birds in the sky then something may be done about it. You are absolutely correct. The only way birds of prey will ever be restricted is when song bird numbers diminish to such an extent that several species become endangered.Although we do not have the finances which our enemy have, we do however, have the ultimate power. We control the primary source of food to these killers. If we breed earlier and bring our young bird racing forward to avoid racing in August not only will the song bird population be decimated but the young falcons will have no prime pigeon to hone it's butchery skills on. I am a bird lover and would not like to see any species become extinct but then that would not be my doing in this instance. The sole responsibility for the demise of the song birds would be placed at the doorstep of the R.S.P.B.
