Ian McKay Posted February 11, 2013 Author Report Posted February 11, 2013 Think this is the link http://www.brunelmicroscopes.co.uk/coccidiosis.html Bird Disease MicroscopyIdentifying parasites and diseases accurately with microscopes and at an early stage is essential in keeping a healthy bird stock. This is particularly true of racing pigeons. Parasite infestations can lose races! Coccidiosis, Worm and CankerThe only way you can be sure if your birds have coccidiosis or worm is to actually identify the parasite eggs with a microscope. It is not really the answer to treat them “just in caseâ€, particularly with wormers. The effect on the bird can almost be as bad as the disease itself. Treat what they have - not - what they might have! Complete Parasite Identification KitOur kit contains everything that is needed to identify worm, coccidiosis and canker without the need for any previous experience. Save money and time - be confident about what you are treating without guessing. The instructions assume you have never used a microscope before and you can telephone during office hours for practical advice. Helpline 0044 (01249) 462655 This is what you get:â– The Brunel SP15 microscope with quality glass optics, mains illumination and the ability to magnify between x40 and x800. Basically you plug it in and look down it! In addition the microscope has many features usually found on professional laboratory instruments such as mechanical stage, substage condenser with iris diaphragm and safety stop. For those without previous experience of microscopes - all this means that it is easy to use and you get a really good image. Let’s be honest - there are cheaper plastic toy microscopes out there being offered for the same purpose, but you won’t see clearly enough to decide what it is your looking at. The pictures opposite were taken with a SP15, and it is worth mentioning here that it is possible to attach either a digital camera or a video camera to this microscope - ask us for details. â– The flotation kit with everything that is needed to identify the presence of worm, coccidiosis or canker in your birds, and most importantly a step by step instruction booklet that assumes you have not done this sort of thing before. So what do you have to do? In simple terms this is what you do with the kit, and remember everything you need is included. 1. Select droppings from the bird or birds. 2. Mash the droppings in some of the flotation fluid and sieve with the strainer. 3. Fill four test tubes with the fluid and leave for at least 1 hour. 4. Take a tiny amount of the very top of the fluid in the test tubes with a pipette and place this on a slide and place one of the coverslips on top. 5. Examine with the microscope at x100 and x400.BRUNEL MICROSCOPES LTDSpecialists in their FieldCoccidiosis x400Hair wormRound worm egg x400Prices exclude VAT which is addedto all orders from the EECHome pageStereomicroscopesAccessoriesHigh Power MicroscopesSpecialistPrepared SlidesFact SheetsCCTVComputersPhotographyDigitalMicrotomesLightingEquipmentSolventsEmailSite MapStains Coccidiosis x100Click here for larger image Brunel SP15 Microscope
