JADE Posted March 31, 2013 Report Posted March 31, 2013 why would the one loft race finish the national or do you mean if the inland races were done away with? I didn`t say the one loft race would finish the snfc. lewis said he hoped it would finish the young bird and inland nationals which I think is a selfish attitude. I hope the one loft race is a success. I was replying to lewis and in my opinion without the young bird and inland races the snfc would struggle to survive jmo

I was replying to lewis and in my opinion without the young bird and inland races the snfc would struggle to survive jmo A would have to disagree with that Jade, stands to reason that if you only have to find birds for 4 races instead of 7, the fanciers lofts will only get hit 4 times by the bop instead of the 7, and the many other factors that cause losses are reduced from 7 to 4 too.I look at it in a simple fashion, EVERY time i basket my birds i risk their lives, if i only send birds out of my team to 4 races then i only risk them 4 times, but as you know many many fanciers use the inland nationals as training spins for their Channel birds, they don't all survive the prep race tae get across the Channel and of course it is every one else's fault they lost their "good Channel doo fae a bad toss" out of Newbury eg. For me less is best and the birdages would rise in Every Channel race compared to the numbers being attracted just now. jmho

I was replying to lewis and in my opinion without the young bird and inland races the snfc would struggle to survive jmo Been over this one a few times on here now and I haven't changed my opinion. I think the SNFC inland races are a blight on channel races as well as federation inland races. As for it being selfish I don't believe this to be the case as if they were dropped I think would be of benefit to the vast majority racing in Scotland whether they be interested in inland racing to the coast or cross channel events. Have listened to a lot of the arguments for them and they could equally be described as selfish-some clever fanciers around who have a knack of making out certain things to be for the greater good, when really it suits their own agenda. Newbury was close to being on the way out at this year's AGM and I've a feeling it may be dropped for 2014.We shall see All I can do is stick by my beliefs,be they right or wrong. With this in mind I don't intend to support any of the SNFC inland races this season or in the future.

I cannot understand why dropping Leicester would have an impact on entries for channel races. If Maidstone was dropped practically every federation would still go there on the same date anyway so that would not benefit entries for the channel. That only leaves Newbury. My federation races from Leicester the same day and we have a choice to send to one or both races. I agree that channel candidates may go down at this race but it is the fanciers choice whether to send or not and they can just as easily go down at a federation race. The race which has most impact on entries for Alencon is Ypres. As you said we will just have to agree to disagree. Best of luck for this season (except for the inland nationals lol)

The race which has most impact on entries for Alencon is Ypres. As you said we will just have to agree to disagree. Best of luck for this season (except for the inland nationals lol) Leicester to me is the least credible race in the entire programme. How a race from such a distance into an area that covers approx. 150 miles top to bottom and approx 120miles wide in parts was even conceived is beyond me. Very rarely the odd bird or two bucks the trend, it's essentially a glorified fed race for members in certain areas. Newbury and Maidstone are a bit better, but again these races are predominantly one sided affairs, dominated by the areas that are hard enough to touch come the French races. Think of a fancier trying to win principle average trophies in the club, they could be hours behind before a ball is even kicked on a level(leveller) playing field-the cross channel races. Unlike you I was faced with a problem last year in as much as I had no other option other than Newbury to give our pigeons more than 3 or 4 hours on the wing that weekend. Fortunately this has been remedied by the fed this season As for popularity the interest is dwindling and as far as I'm concerned that point doesn't wash with me anyway, even if the races were attracting 5000+. Coldstream and Otterburn are more popular in our fed than Newark, Peterborough and Maidstone. Maybe we should make those the open races next year? Anyway I'm just joshing with you Hope you have a good season and enjoy the inland nationals You can say Newbury and Maidstone don't impact the channel race entries all you like. I am 100% certain if they were dropped at 2014's AGM every channel race would have a greater entry than they will get this season. As would practically every federations in the countries last three old bird races.
bigbill Posted April 1, 2013 Report Posted April 1, 2013 Thats very decent of ye Bill, its alot of travelling for ye.yes but he is a good mate, plus I have 2 caravan up in Berwick upon tweed,

airdrie2 Posted May 4, 2013 Report Posted May 4, 2013 so has he got full planning permission now bill if he has the aviries on
Big Wattle Posted May 4, 2013 Report Posted May 4, 2013 Last update on the SOLR website was a complaint about the SNRPC that on the 21st April, nothing since, website says fanciers make their own mind up, is this a diversion tactic to take focus of his own problems with this venture. Copied from the SOLR website 21 April 2013 - Hi the response from snrpc about competing in young bird national was not what i expected they said that we were a commercial loft and would not let us enter there race, which is pretty poor on there part as on there web site they say they will take on all comers. I will let fanciers make there own mind up.
bigbill Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 so has he got full planning permission now bill if he has the aviries onStill working on it,
