Guest pigeongirl Posted January 8, 2013 Report Posted January 8, 2013 Stock and Old Birds paired up early December. Got 18 young hatched. Paired last years young just before christmas and all are sitting except 2 pair which where slow to pair. Needed early pairing so I can split after breeding 4 weeks rest then repaired for racing. Because I am racing hens and cock on widowhood so I need all my stock plus a droppers for widowhood cocks and hens.
geordie1234 Posted January 8, 2013 Report Posted January 8, 2013 Now thinking after been down at the loft today I would like to pair up in the next couple of weeks Maybe take one round split after 5 days of the second eggs being laid and fly them on celibate until pairing up for the longer races. Means I will have a smaller young bird team but quantity over quality I guess
geordie1234 Posted January 13, 2013 Report Posted January 13, 2013 All yearling put together this morning paired a few myself will now let nature take its coarse and let them pick for themselvea

Tony C Posted January 24, 2013 Report Posted January 24, 2013 Pairing up Saturday. What's the theory about full moon Tony? Pair up on the full moon & the youngsters should hatch on the following full moon. There's a strong magnetic pull on full moons but does this make the youngsters hatched on these events any better? who knows! It costs nothing to do so why not
Wiley Posted January 24, 2013 Report Posted January 24, 2013 I've heard people saying to pair on a full moon but never asked them why, especially as I will be pairing on a full moon thought I should ask

blaz Posted January 24, 2013 Report Posted January 24, 2013 pair on full moon more light getting in to loft through the night.yb,s hatch on night with full moon again more light getting in to loft through the night so helping birds feed yb,s.
Tony C Posted January 24, 2013 Report Posted January 24, 2013 I've heard people saying to pair on a full moon but never asked them why, especially as I will be pairing on a full moon thought I should ask The theory behind it is that you tend to lose fewer pigeons, they have a stronger bond for home BUT as stated tis just a theory.............. which costs nothing to practise.
