OLDYELLOW Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 we will and going by the shape of his nose he wasnt all that good at it either lol lol i like it ;D ;D ;D ;D
wee red hens Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 thanks for the banter yous lot great fun cheers
kaybee Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 A few years ago Joe was willing to fight anybody and all the top americans didnt want to know. Then came Jeff Lacy and if you have ever seen as many punches landed in a fight then please let me know. Joe actually hit Lacy with over 1000 punches. For them that say he slaps, I sure as hell wouldn't want to be slapped a 1000 times. He probably has the quickest hand speed I've seen in any middle/light heavy weight. I honestly hope he fights Hopkins again, in Cardiff with a referee that wont let hopkins hold on all night and then he should retire, still undefeated.

Taylorsloft Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 as the saying goes up here .he is some boy
wee red hens Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 if you were punched 1000 times you would be well ko d if you were slapped youd b ok just have a red face and hopkins will be nearly 50 if they meet again so joe will maybe just manage to go the distance again with a geriatric lol
gangster Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 well done joe and lets have the record straight jones in his prime ducked joe twice thats a fact....as its states undefeated.. and a credit to boxing ..
maverick Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 Was never a great fan of joes until last night he proved to everyone what a great fighter he is, lets remember roy jones was talked of as the best pound for pound fighter around joe made him look ordinary
Roland Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 Have to agree 100% with the Wee red Hens. Joe will go down as a great deservedly so... but very well managed and in a great decade. Nigel Benn actually also - like Eubanks - fought the best when they were in THEIR PRIME. None of the excuses everytime matcth. Americians Boxing Rags call him the 'Nearly Ran'. into a fight... and quicker away from one. Terry Downs only got cut up be the best, till his old pal stopped him in the last fight... Yes giving him a good pay day to pack up with. Can easierly name 6-7 that were far too good for Joe. But credit where cred is due... he earnt some cash, got a good rep and his dad deserves a medal.
gangster Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 if you were punched 1000 times you would be well ko d if you were slapped youd b ok just have a red face and hopkins will be nearly 50 if they meet again so joe will maybe just manage to go the distance again with a geriatric lol well that geriatric as you call him just whipped paveliks *expletive removed* so i think maybe joe did a wee bit better after all he beat hopkins?????????
gangster Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 and i might add steve collins would have been his 1st loss if he had not been advised 2 retire....
Roland Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 No Gangster, he fought an old 44 year old, coming out of retirement after inactive for nearly two years. And many thought Bernard had won! But the decision counts and Joe juct about got that. just look at the names, including Hopkins, who he didn't fight, and when suppose too, never turned up! Yeah a 'Bd hand' golly just how many times does he get a bad hand? Only when ever he was fighting a person he'd beat... Any doubt and that HAND.... STRUTH.Now that tells me 'Bad Training, NEVER learning, bad managerment... Or rather good managerment. We all do it, I've pulled lads out of the Midlands Final, with Doc cert, or bad hands... Kept their' rankings, and fought lesser opponents. Good luck Joe, you know, and ...
gangster Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 i agree a bit of crafty management.....
Roland Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 You know, was told in the 60's regards a couple of different reasons. I.e. when matching etc. and when laurels are being presented. 'Never mind who he fought and beat... what about those he didn't or wouldn't fight'! Yes, just look at Hatton's records, and see the good fighters names he DIDN'T fight! never mind running for so long so sucessfully from Junior Witter. Yes sure, he got the cash! fact that and who can blame him! No one, and he certainly wouldn't have got so much after the likes of Witter had beaten him. Good Managerment. Remember Minter? We all told im to run from Hagler - now there is a grea, alongside of Tiger, Monson etc. etc. AND that the best he could do was win a blumming hard fight, IF he won that is, on points. Anf 15 rounds against a good class boxer with a good punch is a blumming long night. Pride cost him an absolute fortune. So yes Joe, and Ricky you did right, and have credit from Joe public... and a bank balance that says' Never mind who I wouldn't fight'!
