Went for a few loft visits today in Wales and to convince Owen Elliot about eye sign of course, and as you can see I won him over so much so he even made me and my nephew a cuppa tea from a fresh tea bag.:emoticon-0136-giggle: :emoticon-0136-giggle: :emoticon-0136-giggle: :emoticon-0136-giggle: Owen's the one looking on admiring my skill :emoticon-0136-giggle:

It seems that my birds have racing eyes. Well there's a surprise (I don't think). OK I was trying to be polite to my visitors and allowed them to indulge their illusions about a lot of things including eye sign. Then they were into the idea that you can rate a pigeon by handling it. But I stayed true to my attempt at showing good manners although it was a struggle when Bernie announced that he had found a Breeder's eye. The cock concerned had won 5 Club races and topped the Fed 3 times plus 2 lesser Fed positions. He did this in two years racing and suffered a very bad injury to his leg. So if he did not have something special about him I would pickle my boots and eat them.

I must say that I enjoyed the company of Bernie and Martin and I rewarded them by using my own tea bags. Brand news ones at that, at least for the first cup of tea. After publishing that photo I am not sure that I would be so generous again though.

I did nearly have a nasty mishap when I was making them their 10th cup of tea when I put the electric kettle on the gas and lit it. I was so engrossed in listening to the finer points of eye sign that my concentration went missing. It was a good job that Martin brought me back to earth when he asked me if I always boiled the electric kettle that way.

Later in the day we went to see Spencer Jones at his loft who is a near neighbour and a competitor. I believe that Spencer is the best Pigeon Fancier I have ever known and as the guys will confirm he has the birds to prove it. I will let Bernie tell you about Spencer because I am biased.

Thankyou Bernie and Martin for a very enjoyable day if a bit on the expensive side with the tea bags and all that.

Was I surprised that you hadn't converted Owen? Not a bit, in fact I'd have been disappointed if you had come close, We know what pigeon eyes are for over here in Wales, Good read lads, I'm sure you all had a good day, Owen will have the tea-bags pegged out on the line as we speak
