andy Burgess Posted December 13, 2012 Report Posted December 13, 2012 south in the wind does not suit my birds .also if birds not done a lot of work the the south in the wind would help them out. looking at the weather for race now it will be a tough race .with a WSWwind at the home end 25 to 40 mph with 99% cloud cover rain and some mist.best of luck Blaz
BERTIE B Posted December 13, 2012 Report Posted December 13, 2012 sending "plodders" ,thought they would do better if snow or heavy frost was around . forecast is now 5-7 degrees with a strong South-West wind Plodders may have been the case a few years ago but not anymore fanciers are sending better birds to this race now and setting them up for it better

This race is no diffrent to any other race the best conditioned and fittest birds will come to the front, if fancier has not done his bit for birds they will not be there

blaz Posted December 13, 2012 Author Report Posted December 13, 2012 i think this race is diffrent from club fed races . the prep is for me is diffrent the feed the training ect. if it was a club fed race 70 miles be lucky to have birds in basket 4 or 5 times.also your avrage club fed race from 70 miles would be over in 2 hours dont thint this will be over in 2 hours

blaz Posted December 13, 2012 Author Report Posted December 13, 2012 In no diffrent i mean the fittest birds will windisagree i won it in 2009 with a hen she was the least fittest of the 4 birds i sent .she spent 3 week in loft with hens .i then added her to team let her back in to her own loft 4 or 5 training tosses .she got added to team because of loses training. so it is not always the fittest that wins it.she wanted back quick to claim her box next pan and her mate also to keep the other hen out that i kept putting in her box.vel 727 ypm a very testing race hi blaz best of luck for the weekend ope you getanother christmas hen wes cheers wes
