does anyone no the best way to get rid of them only got 2 hens and cock left foxes killed rest but as soon as i get rid of the red mite off them in 2 weeks there bk ive re wired all there pen today to stop the sparrows keep going in with them just to see if that helps any ideas of best treatment to get rid of them cheers

Yes reckon the website shows the full picture - no point in treating the birds alone if the house and surrounding areas are infested. Need to treat the house too.

creosote used to be the best for inside chicken huts to rid red mite, that was the pure creosote used for the telegraph poles

tried cloracarb ardcap redmite powders all sorts on the chicken house and chickens garlic in water seems to restrict amount that go on birds but drives me mental

try a household insect spray m8, in all the cracks etc, other than that its a blow torch which you have to be careful with, creosote does work

Chickens are particularly bad for mite.

They infest the birds and the hut.

Just need to keep treating the birds and the loft till they are gone.

Are the scales on the legs of your birds raised as mite can do this to poultry?

2 gallons water in a pale add 1/2 bottle Harkamitex. Submerge chicken up to its ears and lock into hen house for night. No more lice for months.
