Guest bigda Posted September 25, 2012 Report Posted September 25, 2012 Very quite 2nite with the molt it could be small feathers stuck in the nose or a bit of linseed in the clefor you have too many birds and there aint enough air getting in yer shed
thomasd Posted September 25, 2012 Author Report Posted September 25, 2012 20 in 8x6 shed m8 lots of air going into the loft one of the birds very messy round the side of the face just wet brown colour i think it could be canker or one i cold but not sure still not in the game yet
ovy1255 Posted September 25, 2012 Report Posted September 25, 2012 dirty wattles acompany illness in the birds a lot of the time-and lily white wattles usually is an indicator of good health .look to the eyes as your problem -without pics of the eyes and down the throat and extending its neck by holding its beak and listen at the back of its neck-so treating blind without some info is not what many would like to comment on,but as a stab in the dark first tell us does the watery eyes have small bubbles in the liquid?stab in the dark treat for respitory problem -use doxy or similar for 5 days and watch the others.
b.massey Posted September 25, 2012 Report Posted September 25, 2012 Usually respiratory mate. Worth flock treating for 3-5 days
just ask me Posted September 26, 2012 Report Posted September 26, 2012 there is a lot of this going around and in some cases antibiotics are of no use on the Continent they are using Zovirax
peter pandy Posted September 26, 2012 Report Posted September 26, 2012 there is a lot of this going around and in some cases antibiotics are of no use on the Continent they are using Zovirax ZOVIRAX = NOT TO BE USED ON EYES..

just ask me Posted September 26, 2012 Report Posted September 26, 2012 ZOVIRAX = NOT TO BE USED ON EYES.. rewad that too but that what there using
Wiley Posted September 26, 2012 Report Posted September 26, 2012 If it was just swollen eye Use Chloramphenical Eye drops you get from the chemist it will be gone in 5 days. However to me it sounds as if you a chronic respiratory infection with one eye colds and stained wattles, it would be a case of an antibiotic treatment of 3-7 days using either a doxycycline, Tylan or a spiramycin treatmeant. Whenever treating for respiratory I suggest clearing the head with either nazaline or slipsonal, before, and removing all grits and minerals, I would also suggest using either bottled water or boiled water when prepping this medication. Or you could give them full access to an aviary 24/7 it will take longer to clear but it will clear on it's own accord and chances of it coming back as soon as put back in the loft.
Guest geordiejen Posted September 26, 2012 Report Posted September 26, 2012 quite a few people saying of this eye infection.has anyone tried taking the birds to a trusted vet to see whats going on.sounds some sort of respiritory but is there any hard evidence?
tambla51 Posted September 27, 2012 Report Posted September 27, 2012 Use doxi remove grit disinfect loft and drinkers. Treat for 10 days use plenty of probiotics
