Blue Chequer Pied Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 Hi Paul, We get a lot of sightings up here. There is a hybrid cat which is claimed to be a cross between a domestic cat and the Scottish wild cat but they are all black. Some have been found dead, farmers have shot them and some have been caught alive. there was massive hype in the mid to late eighties and they were all over the local papers. One was caught alive and taken to Kingussie wildlife park. There have also been some really good books written on them one partiular written by a woman near to here where she actually had two given too her and they bred in captivity. Really good read pm me for details if you are interested. Paul.

Paul. yep they are around, a lot of doubters at 1st but mounting evidence has silenced a few of them. the cats are renowned for being secrtive animals. back in 2007-8 two welsh policemen spotted one near magor in newport south wales, they was in a panther...i mean panda car ;D ;D

Pompey Mick Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 Whilst travelling to work about 6yrs ago I spotted a large black animal slinking through the bushes on the side of a hill just North of Bordon on the Hants/Surrey border. Its gait was unmistakeably of the large cat family and its coat was ink black. It made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. My co-worker in the van with me also saw it in the short time it was on view. I believe in my own mind that it was definately of the panther family even though at the time I couldn't believe myself what I had witnessed.

peterpau Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 I am missing afew birds from yesterday! Wonder if next doors cat has anything to do with it? I doubt that cat could catch much. Looks too big to move, let alone jump at live prey.
