eastcoaster Posted July 23, 2012 Report Posted July 23, 2012 After reading other posts about John Bosworth and his fantastic results ,Question, Do the West men think the Van Rijn`s will fly through here and has anybody tried them here , i have just a few pairs from Leo but are only late breds from last year so not bred many yet .
WulDon Posted July 23, 2012 Report Posted July 23, 2012 good pigeons prepared properly will win anywhere, dont see where loft location has much to do with it...

Guest Gareth Rankin Posted July 23, 2012 Report Posted July 23, 2012 Had them from Kerr of Irvine and had a good spell with them from 2001, we won plenty club races and prizes out to 300 miles with them. Managed to send some off them to 460 miles, which were easy races, they got home and took minor club cards, but as soon as they got a tough one from 300-460 miles they just disappeared like snow of a dyke. None left now. Kinder areas of the country and know doubt they will manage 500 miles.

Guest Gareth Rankin Posted July 23, 2012 Report Posted July 23, 2012 Did you cross with anything Gareth ,Yes but only other sprint middle distance pigeons.
eastcoaster Posted July 23, 2012 Author Report Posted July 23, 2012 I have them with the intention of the inland nat`s or longest fed races as if bosworth struggled to get them at the distance then i also think they may struggle in the west but then again i maybe a better fancier than bossy.lol lol

Henrik Posted July 23, 2012 Report Posted July 23, 2012 Yes but only other sprint middle distance pigeons.Read the SNFC reports on both Alencon and Niort and I think you will find that John timed from both with crossed Leo van Rijns. Its all about preparation and motivation. Vandenabeeles cant fly further than 300 but 1st Sec B Clermont is a Vandenabeele same way bred as one that was 1st sec B from Eastbourne a couple o years back.

Henrik Posted July 23, 2012 Report Posted July 23, 2012 All in your mind I think, you guys from the West for some reason seem to think you are at a disadvantage and everyone and their Uncle is against you, but if the truth be told then the prevailing wind is normally from the West and you guys fly your birds from East to West which encourages them to fly a dog-leg back home and I dont care what anyone says the best way home is in a straight line which will never happen in pigeon racing
Guest stb- Posted July 23, 2012 Report Posted July 23, 2012 (edited) All in your mind I think, you guys from the West for some reason seem to think you are at a disadvantage and everyone and their Uncle is against you, but if the truth be told then the prevailing wind is normally from the West and you guys fly your birds from East to West which encourages them to fly a dog-leg back home and I dont care what anyone says the best way home is in a straight line which will never happen in pigeon racingnothing to do with in the mind mate plenty of birds over in the west have put up great performances at 500 miles but canny mind of many or any being your sprint to middle distance ones which seem to drop in 10 a penny over on the east as it obviously suits that type of bird , have had the debeeles and there baw bursts aboot newbury 333 miles dont hack much after that on a stiff day , and yes your right they do dog leg there taught that from ybs , racing from the forth round and down to dunbar berwick etc right along the forth to the north and round the coast , end up flying 100 miles they dont need to if they came straight . cant exspect them to do much else when its drummed into them from babies, also to add i dont think or wasnt aware that every man and his uncle was against anyone , at one time we looked for our pigeons from the south , now we look to the north east as thats the way they come 9/10 as you say they dog leg but we do teach them to do that ,not my prefered route but couldnt hold onto many birds when racing from the south west were getting cleaned out time after time , my loft now faces that north east direction aswell Edited July 23, 2012 by stb-
