Guest WINGS 04 Posted June 30, 2012 Report Posted June 30, 2012 Am wrong Gareth it is Saturday :emoticon-0127-lipssealed:
JohnQuinn Posted June 30, 2012 Report Posted June 30, 2012 Didn't know it was an oversight. Honestly thought is was the members at the AGM that decided to move the race to a Saturday. Its god to know someone has listened at the AGM. To clarify things, the Marking was brought forward because of the Ferry times. At the port where the birds will sail from there are only 2 sailing times, midnight and 6am. With Thursday marking it meant the transporter would be catching the Friday midnight ferry crossing, there would be no time to get the birds to Carentan, rest them for the allotted time and get an Early liberation. So it will be Wednesday Marking and a Saturday race with the transporter on site Friday afternoon and the birds rested over night 'til the Saturday morning. EAP.

Thanks for clarifying John, it would been better if it would have been possible to finish marking two hours earlier, transporter leaving Lanarkshire by 18.00 this would have left plenty of time to get to the boat for a 06.00 sailing. Convoy will have a lot of yearlings and the less time in the basket for them all the better.

EAP. a small transporter, could have gone through the rail tunnel dont see any need, to the extra day in the basket, not unless we are getting the piggy back, with some other union. and we have no say in the matter.
Delboy Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 What times the marking at Uddingston? Anybody know?
Novice Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 I was of the opinion that Lanarkshire and Ayrshire were using the Almond Valley transporter for this race and this could have used the tunnel route meaning a day less in the basket for the birds. Can anyone confirm which transporter we are using?
Delboy Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 6.00 Derek Cheers Jim I was of the opinion that Lanarkshire and Ayrshire were using the Almond Valley transporter for this race and this could have used the tunnel route meaning a day less in the basket for the birds. Can anyone confirm which transporter we are using? Im sure its the A/V transporter.
Novice Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 Cheers Jim Im sure its the A/V transporter. Interesting we could have basketed Thursday no problem.Let's just hope for good returns irrespective of the logistics.

Novice Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 I agree with ye, another night in the basket when it couldve been avoided if the marking was earlier, jmo Derek what I was getting at was that if we used the tunnel with the AV transporter Thursday basketing would have been time enough. No matter lets just have a decent race for a change.
JohnQuinn Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 I would be interested in knowing where the Tunnel takes you to in France before you can get off. Have always thought it just went straight to Paris, if so how far it is to the race point from there. Also are you allowed to take livestock on board with you. If it IS possible to transport this way and it is economically viable to do so i would support it all the way.
