Our club ETS [basic] could not upgrade my Champ 500 and took it to Dougie Bald who done the business. However one of my birds previously had a faulty ring and was allocated another, which had been registered to another which was lost without the ring being affixed. Our clock convenor deleted the ring and re'entered the new pigeon number, This was successful, and the bird was raced with no problems. At the SNFC marking after the upgrade last Wedneday the ETS ring had converted back to its original bird marked against it and could not be sent. I can only surmise that when upgrading, the clock reverts back to its original settings deleting any changes made on ring numbers. I am sorry if I have not made myself coherant as its damn difficult attempting to explain even when you have all the print outs in front of you.

Sounds OK. to me Peter, just like a system restore on your comp ??

However I would have thought it should not have changed any settings that have been entered.

PS. I know nowt about ETS.

Sound like the clock wasnt synced to the computer after the ring was altered as the ring cannot change itself, has to be done manually and nothing to do with the update. JMO on the info you have posted.

Was the lost bird deleted from your clock,if not I think the ring would still be allocated to it.

Just read your post again, maybe your clocksetter at some point had used the backup on the Unikon programme and it did not have your clocks new info on it and put the old info back into your clock.

It would seem that during the update the clock was synchronised with the data in the computer which has overidden the data in the clock. I have re-assigned lots of rings and not come up against this scenario.

Perhaps it's wiser to make sure all deleted life rings are removed from the computer memory before reassignment, I will bear this in mind in future.

The ring could have been re-assigned at the marking station without the computer being connected as long as the pigeon in question ring number is in the clock.
