micko and jack Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 CHAIRDE Irish (FRIENDS) this morning on the "what are the nipa at???????" thread I was accused of "what's this gibberish" "you nationalists are always try to ram Irish down our throats" now I wont get into all the ins and outs of it as the mods removed the posts from the thread but I did say in reply that we have members on this site from all over and not everyone speaks English and asked that if a German or South African member came on site spoke in their native tongue and provided a translation should we all jump on the bandwagon and hound them of site ?? NOT A VERY GOOD WAY TO INCREASE MEMBERSHIP in reply I was told "this is an English sitespeak English" I don't think that I'm ramming Irish down anyones throat and pointed out that this member was the first to complain I have been on this site a long time now I joined looking birds and FRIENDSHIP (check my first posts) I would like to think I have contributed well to this site and HOPE I HAVE MADE MANY MANY FRIENDS I pointed out there was nothing in the rules saying I couldn't write in Irish and said that if the member wanted to post in Ulster Scots AND PROVIDE TRANSLATION I WOULD SUPPORT HIM 100% I also pointed out that fancier call to my home and are made welcome I don't ask their religion politics or anything else WHY because I'm not interested they are in my home as FRIENDS AND PIGEON FANCIERS and I pointed out that some members had avatars of the pope with a sash northern Ireland flag with home of the Billy boys to pick just a few did I get upset haha like water of a ducks back I have even PMed these guys joked and winded them no later than last night AND NOT ONE OF THEM COMPLAINED ABOUT MY USE OF MY NATIVE TONGUE I don't think my use of my native tongue is a threat to anyone and unless there is a rule change I will continue to use Irish like wise I would support the rights of Scottish or welsh fancier or anyone else to speak their native tongue so long as they provide translation at the end of the mail I posted in reply I apologised to the mods and TO THE NIPA FANCIER who were checking the thread for liberation times for the thread going of topic mick ps the only Irish I have used that I never provided translation for is under jacks photo in our avatar have a look no one has ever asked what it said so let me provide translation now Beagán a rá agus é a rá go maith. Say little but say it well. food for thought mick

blaz Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 ach laddie yer no daing that .as for it being an English site well i diny ken about that.i think the man that made the site happen is a scotts man.
Guest strapper Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 i do believe that anyone trying to stop you speak in your chosen tongue is breaking your human rights. i do believe if you want to chat in irish/scottish/welsh or english as long as your not doing it to make mischief i dont think theres a problem.
Guest Owen Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 I can not see any reason why anyone would want to stop you speaking in whatever tongue you want. It does restrict you as far as the number of people who can actually understand what you say. But that is up to you. If I wanted to speak Welsh I know that I could because, I have that right legally. However, I choose not to, because I would prefer to be understood by the many and not the few. There is one small point however, I think it is bad manners for you to speak Irish and me to speak Welsh when we know that the majority will not understand what we say. If we want to do that, apart from greetings, we should do it on a predominately Welsh or Irish site. Sorry mate, you are not wrong but your manners want looking at.
Fair Play Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 North East of England are honorary Scots ;D ;D ;D

Owen mo chara (my friend) I have perfect manners as stated in the above post I DO TRANSLATE now if you or anyone else think that is bad manners well I don't know not everyone speaks English if a German or Dutch fancier put up a post in German or Dutch and provided THE TRANSLATION would that be bad manners ?? I FOR ONE DON'T THINK SO the only Irish I never translated as I stated above is on our avatar and I have translated now Beagán a rá agus é a rá go maith. Say little but say it well.
Guest Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 In the past I've posted in Gaelic and I don't know a word of it but I wanted to 'connect'. I don't give a jot what you are; you cry the same, bleed the same and laugh the same and I'm willing to be your friend or enemy (friend hopefully) based on how you treat me, not on what you are or what side of the road you live or how you communicate, I know many illiterate Welsh men but I think no less of them, one of the cleverest men I ever met, a miner, couldn't read or write!. sonas ort!
BLACK W F Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 hold on you guys this site is a SCOTTISH site but is open to all and micko can speak his native tongue if he wants thats his right under a democracy the only thing that should not be aloud is folk speaking crap i hope you understand that Vallance mate lol

Guest Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Mick, my friend, rise above the few who think the rules of this forum, and indeed the hobby of pigeon keeping/racing, were not put in place for them. This hobby/forum does not disassociate people because of colour, creed, nationality or tongue.
