greenlands Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 What you put on site might incriminate another fancier. You never know who's watching the site, be it RSPB or an other organisation. So think before you print.http://www.journallive.co.uk/north-east-news/todays-news/2012/04/02/sunderland-pigeon-drug-dealer-must-sell-his-home-61634-30672723/

sapper756 Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 Very wise words! this has been passed on many times to the site members, both by other members and the site admin/mods.
Guest geordiejen Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 i agree but have never heard of anyone on this site doing anything which is deemed to be unlawful.if you look at it another way we help the rspca or spca by providing food for raptors, foxes etc.its just a pity these organizations dont care too much about little sparrows, starlings or our songbirds.all i see in my garden now is magpies, seagulls and members of the crow family.i built a bird breeding box in my garden and for 4 years blue tits were nesting in it.each year they raised over 4 youngsters and this year its empty.havent seen any of these birds the past few months but thats not my problem, its like fashion some animals are the flavour of the month and the rest are pushed to one side.now we have beavers destroying rivers and salmon runs are getting hit hard but seeing a lovely beaver on the water brings in the tourists so thats fine then.?
geordie1234 Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 If the RSPB had a wee bit of sense they should work with us, if they agreed to keep numbers slightly lower than they are at present we could probably get on with racing pigeons and then the remaining raptors would not have to fear persecution, they could get on with it, if there is any more raptors the novelty will soon wear off therefore won't have a valuable product to try and entice money from the public.

Guest Owen Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 I accept the warning but I want those clowns to see what we think of them and their ideas. They probably think they can ride roughshod over the rest of humanity but sooner or later things will come to a head. I am old enough to remember when the then Government shoved a bunch of Dockers into jail only to find that they could not get them out again while the whole Country was up in arms. The result was that the Government had to go to the Country and lost the election that followed. I do not think that the General Public has understood yet that the RSPB are directly responsible for the demise of many of the Song Birds and that there are hungry raptors desperate to feed themselves which results in them changing their normal behaviour. We, together with many others who do understand are to blame for not passing this information on to the General Public. Very soon now we like others will be given the stark choice of either getting off our bottoms and providing the information as to what is happening or the whole balance of Nature will be destroyed. At long last there are efforts being made to raise money to fund these things so perhaps at long last the wagon of reason is on the move.At present time our sport is bogged down with self interest in much the same way that others activities are but this fight concerns us all and surely it must be sensible to find ways of working together.

Guest IB Posted April 6, 2012 Report Posted April 6, 2012 I think some are wandering off the subject, or just don't understand what the Newspaper article is about. It is nothing to do with RSPB. It is about some fanciers advising others on the use of illegal drugs on pigeons, and / or where to get those drugs. And what can happen when they get caught doing it. Must admit I've learned something from the article too. I didn't know that 'proceeds of crime' law applied to this, where anyone convicted of supplying drugs illegally can have their assets seized. I thought that only happened to 'drugs dealers'. Seems the law sees this as drug dealing too. Not a nice thing to be known as.
